RAWA Minutes from RAWA/Club Meeting.

I'd hope that our fans wouldnt turn on RAWA. I spoke to the lads way back when they were being formed and it was clear that they are acutely aware of one false move dispensing with any influence that they may have had with the club. I'm impatient but their "creeping influence" approach is the one that will work.

Its a f***ing helluva long way back for us and we need ALS/RAWA/RR/WMSP to be up there speaking with the board and shouting for us all.

Lets be patient with them and back them in what they are trying to do.

We have zero to lose by doing this.
My worry now is that Donald will only invite the BLC to the obligatory meeting he must hold under league rules. I'm sure you're well aware of their tow the line approach?

#donaldout days are numbered and our fan groups must look to the future and how they are going to influence the board in the future. The BLC may well have to be brought into the fold as part of a co-ordinated approach.

The fans have to play a part in SAFC moving forward. the days of solely allowing money men who know zero about football to take over the reigns are surely over. It is a win win situation that allows fan groups to have a proper say in the running of the club because and as it stands, the money men, are making the same mistakes over and over again and losing money hand over fist.

Anybody from BLC on here?

Who are these lot?

If we're relying on the BLC, abandon hope all ye who enter here.

He honestly believes backing Parkinson to the hilt is the correct thing to do. Donald is putting us back another couple of years and he’s too deluded to see it.
He’s putting the club closer to extinction. Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if we ended up in receivership as SD isn’t going to put any cash into this - will just take a few more crap results, panic will set in, no signings will want to come near us and there you have it. Of course I may be completely wrong and we are going to win the next 20 games and everything will be ok.

Why is that? Perhaps they will pass on questions from members....

They were the sole contact between club and fans before RAWA came along. If you had the archaeological skills of the Channel 4 Time Team. you might eventually have stumbled on the minutes deep in a vault beneath Penshaw Monument, and discovered they had a jolly time having tea and biscuits with Martin Bain. Mrs Merton was a fiercer investigator.

Hasn't the mantra been -
argue from within - join and and push your questions rather than snipe from outside/afar?

Or does that only fit in if it's the group you happen to favour?

You talking about your meeting up with Charlie...

Something like Coors is his preference. Whenever I've seen him, he's never been shy about getting his wallet out - and his order's exactly the same if someone else is buying.

Had they run out of biscuits or did he buy you peanuts instead?

RAWA at least asked the questions. Prior to that the BLC were criticised on here for being more interested in maintaining their ticketing privileges than anything else. Having attended a liaison meeting with them in attendance I don't fins that entirely unfair. I did notice that they weren't participants last night.

I met up with him socially once or twice before or after a match. The only other time was the liaison meeting in June. I get it. You don't like me. i have to say the feeling's mutual. If you're in the Deaf Club on Saturday, you can buy me a pint and make up. If not, I see no reason to respond to you at all.

Some of the questions for RAWA and RR seemed to be filtered and balls were only grown recently (in my opinion).

The names I recognise from the BLC are Cath Reid and Joanne Youngson who both seem to have solid reputations in terms of doing good work and representing supporters.

The BLC had meetings but never bothered to ask for questions (even from branch members as far as I can tell), they never bothered publishing minutes, they might as well not have had any engagement whatsoever. It generally appeared that it was full of people who, regardless of what decent stuff they might do in terms of running transport etc, were often a bit full of their own self importance and liked being in a "privileged" position of getting to talk to the club and make themselves feel important. I was worried about RAWA when it was announced because a fair few of them putting themselves forward for key roles seemed to be some of the same old tired names. Thankfully there was also fresh blood and on the whole RAWA have been a lot more open, not scared about speaking out and have actually tried to represent the fans

If they're in branches, yes. It was obvious in the meeting that I attended that they are more interested in branch members (and in particular their priority in accessing away tickets) than in the interests of the wider fanbase. I feel far more represented by RAWA than them.

The next Sunderland Supporter Group Collective Meeting with Charlie Methven and other SAFC management will take place w/c 18th November probably 20th November due to Charlie doing talk-ins on 21st and 22nd. The club have asked each Supporters group to provide questions, issues, ideas that they wish to be tabled on the agenda for this meeting. Can our branches and supporters send in before 11th November any topic they wish to be brought up for discussion. Please message me or Cath Reid do not reply on this post. Thank you in anticipation for a positive response from our member branches and their supporters.

Fair enough, if you're in a branch maybe you can ask questions. Most fans aren't in a branch though, most fans have never seen minutes from any of these meetings so have no way of knowing which, if any, of these questions were asked and, as GOM says, whether the ones they do ask are ones that affect the whole fan base or are just "can we get more away tickets". A group that actually represents the whole fan base, branch or not (like many I live in Sunderland, not really worth joining a branch, all I'd use it for is occasional away travel and you can get on pretty much any branch bus anyway) is vastly preferable, especially when they make sure you can actually see the results of the engagement. If the BLC weren't ensuring all could ask questions and all could see the minutes, then they obviously weren't fit for the role regardless of the good work they do for their branch

Have you asked if there were any minutes and if not, why not?

Work from within, not snipe from the outside - remember the mantra.

Why should we need to? They are meant to be having discussions for the good of the fans, why should it be on the fans to go hunting for the minutes? They should be happy to publicise them, to ensure as many fans as possible could find them. It absolutely makes no sense that your answer to that should be "go hunting for them". Even if I did, and they actually had some, is it then on me to make them more widely available? No. That's their job and they were shit at it which is why so few fans even knew when the meetings were never mind if, when or where the minutes were going to appear.

So, the mantra only applies to people who questioned RAWA - I get where you are coming from.
