DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment

Sony just announced a back button attachment for the DualShock 4:

I really like the paddles on the back of the Xbox Pro Controller which I use on PC, helpful for mapping certain buttons/actions to. I find the 'double stick push on L3 and R3' an awkward movement, when you activate Rage mode in God of War for example. This could alleviate that, and may well be something they're trying out to see what the response is before the DualShock 5.

Strange one - I wonder if it means the DS5 will have back buttons and cross generation games will work on both controllers now.

I think they're trying to compete with SCUF and the XBox Elite controllers. I do like having buttons on the back, come in surprisingly handy. I'm guessing how well these sell might impact the DualShock 5 design.

Not worth £30 to me tbh. Would be canny for L3 and R3, or a couple of shape buttons/dpad ditections you want to press while using the sticks though.

Yeah, I get it, it's a fairly pricey add on for an end of life controller. Interesting decision to bring it out now with the PS5 12 months away. It's surprisingly useful having the buttons on the back, will be interesting to see how well this sells.

You could buy another controller for the price of it. They'll probably start doing controller bundles with it i.e. £50 for them both....or if it's Tesco £70.
