dumb fifa question

I don't play any console games so am completely out of my depth here.
My 7 year old plays and enjoys Fifa 12 on an old Xbox 360. As far as I can see, he picks a couple of teams from the 2012 premier league, and has a game vs the console. There is no intenet connection required, and he really enjoys it.
He would like to update the version he plays to 2018 or 2019.
I have already ordered an Xbox oneS for Xmas and weas about to buy a fifa 18 disc, but just want to check that he will still be able to play the game mode he uses now. I don't want him playing other people online. Is this still possible?
as I say, it's a dumb question, but I am clueless about this stuff
TIA

He can still play one player, unless you buy him Xbox live he can't play online.

I would suggest putting a decade onto his dob when you set up his xbox account, my kid had loads of bother a couple of years in when I finally allowed to play online but was blocked by the age restrictions on the system.

Thanks. I am slightly paranoid about this stuff. Hopefully, once the console is set up, I can pull the plug in it's internet connection and just buy him game discs. Turned down the xbox one all digital for this reason

He won't get patches without an Internet connection, so don't pull the plug. A lot of games are absolutely fucked without day one patches. Just don't buy an Xbox live gold account and gont give him a headset.

He will need a silver account (just to install games and track achievements etc), but he won't be able to play online.

If you put his real date of birth now there will be a point in the next 4-5 years where you spunk £50-60 on a game he bought to play with his mates and he can't because of restrictions. I got caught out with that when he used his xbox (he's move over to the ps4 master race since then).

He's 7, I get you not wanting him playing online and hearing a load of language etc (if you concern is him getting nonced, that's simply not going to be a thing).

Ahh, now I understand the add a decade on his DOB. I have an Xbox account for some reason, so he can use that for now. He can have his own account when he needs it

That's how my bairn had to play....battlefront I think it was.

Once he moves on from FIFA I'd set up an account for him, he'll lose all of his achievements.
