Come on Sunderland Echo....

I'm always been an avid Echo reader, since it was passed round the family from my Fatha downwards when I was a kid.
I still get it delivered, but it's purely out of habit.
The standard of journalism and the actual quality of the print and typesetting as we used to call it is dreadful.
The amount of spelling mistakes, some in big headlines is embarrassing, the wrong captions on photo's and the like, it never ends.
Sometimes it hasn't even been slit correctly and there a fold where the cut end of the page should be, it's a disgrace.
What was going to be the last straw was when they stopped printing next day Sunderland match reports, I told the missus to cancel it, but then stopped her.
They should put it out of it's misery and close it down.

Do they still have the Chipper Club? It's my birthday soon and I'll check to see if I get a shout out if it's still going. 58 by the way.

It’s horrible to see how far what was a very good local paper has fallen. Same with the Hartlepool Mail. If they can’t be bothered to do it properly then I’d rather they just gave it up.
