The one man that is 100% to blame

He isn't 100% to blame but I certainly haven't forgiven him the way some on here have. He sat back and watched us free fall into league one, yes he repaid some cash at the end but by then the damage was done.

He didn't sit back and watch us to down to league 1.....he appointed the best manager available after quickly realising Grayson wasn't good enough. He had every right to think though that Coleman would keep us up. It wasn't his fault the management teams recruited Steele Ruiter and Camp. Ultimately it is the managers and players that have got us into L1 not the owner

The OP said there was one man to blame.

The absolute shitstorm they walked into was still a shitstorm that left them with a squad with some players very capable at this level. Maja, McGeady, Cattermole, Oviedo etc. They all (less so Oviedo) contributed to us getting where we did. Decisions the owners have made have led to most of those departing, us replacing them with inferior players and now we are where we are.

Which is pretty much what I’ve said.

But I’ll always hold Short accountable above all others. His total lack of care in The Championship season filtered down throughout the whole club.

Sort of agree...Ellis Short put trust in some clearly bad appointments. Never had a vision for the club (new owners have showed the same lack of vision), which is surprising with his background.

If these two new people in charge think they‘re gonna climb up the leagues with Eastleigh people in charge of recruitment, then I think it’s gonna be a long wait till things turn around.

For the situation that Sunderland are currently in is Ellis Short no question. Can anybody please explain to me why our current owners get so much abuse as you would think that they are the people that put us in league 1? All of this bitterness and hatred towards them doesnt make sense to me, there is a lot of people who forget or who choose to forget, a lot of people are quick to react to the here and now rather than think who put us here in the first place. There is vicious posts and threads on here with absolute no foundation, all aimed at the wrong people and that is a matter of fact

I was fully behind the owners I think given the mess they picked up last season wasn't a bad effort realistically to be a game away from promotion.

However the recruitment over the summer was horrendous and we've gone backwards, the players we've brought in have actually weakened the squad. The Parkinson appointment is the biggest disappointment to me, a total lack of ambition, unimaginative and the worst thing is we all know it won't end well. Rather than giving a boost to the club again it feels like Parkinson has accelerated the negativity at the club. Who knows where we go from here.

At least Short put money into the club and gave it a go, he was badly advised and put his trust in the wrong people. Was willing to cut his losses to get rid of us losing his billionaire status in the process (although I would have liked him to have done it a year earlier). The current fuckers look like they want to spend as little as possible to make the most as possible whilst bullshitting to us all in the present.

100% this. Makes the original post look extremely silly.

This club has been very badly managed for the last ten years, at least, and is continuing to be so.
No coherent forward planning, no efficient, effective, stable management, no ethos as to what the club is trying to achieve. Just floundering around with five- minute policies and decision making, from one match to the next, one idea to the next, nobody on the same page. An ability to fuck up every chance we have to put things right.
From us fans, no comprehension, no optimism, no togetherness, no common purpose, no trust....,as distant and disconnected from the management as we’ve ever been.
It’s a royal fuck up and no mistake.

Spot on...people seem to have forgotten when we dropped into the championship, he closed the cheque book...

The only way our current situation is Short’s fault is that he fell for the bullshit SD and CM claimed they could do for the club.
🤦‍♂️

...and who’s responsible for the succession off short term managers operating with previous managers panic buys. You know the unsustainable model for running a football club which saw us end up in the third division.
Answer that question honestly and you have your cause for 3rd division football

was it not him that cleared the debt?
He put us there in the f***ing first place ffs.

100% shorts fault, 100%!!
If Ellis has stayed Where would we be now?

Honest question. The bloke created a monster, but he left having given the club a clean slate. If he had stayed, wiped out the debt and started again, would we still be in this mess?
When he was here for the last year or so he put nowt in.. fuck all..

Then he put money in to clear the debt? Why didnt he do that when we f***ing needed it?

Good intentions but he's the reason we are where we are. American's should stick to rounders, bouncy ball and puffs rugby.

sound like a child in a sweetie shop. Uncle Ellis always bought me sweets even though it rotted my teeth and made me obese. Uncle Stuart won’t buy me sweets because he says he doesn’t have enough money.
Bad Uncle Stuart why doesn’t he just take out a payday loan.... selfish, incompetent Eastleigh supporting taking the piss cockney.

wrong on so many levels, so much so I think your beyond hope

so it is Shorts fault .... good post
What are talking about? Your sweetshop analogy is ridiculous. Ellis Short was well intentioned and we spent a good number of years in the prem along with a league cup final. Things didn't work out and we move on. No one is 100% to blame there is enough to share around. We have no debt and crowds of 30000 this ownership with the right people in place have every advantage to get us out of this league without outside help. Lets see if they can.

There's not any one person 100% responsible for everything that has befallen the club the past few years. To say otherwise, and belueve it, would need the closed minded stupidity of a simpleton.
