The one man that is 100% to blame

If Ellis has stayed Where would we be now?

Honest question. The bloke created a monster, but he left having given the club a clean slate. If he had stayed, wiped out the debt and started again, would we still be in this mess?

So you don't think Short is to blame at all then?
If that is what you are saying, you are an absolute numpty.
I don’t think he’s to blame at all. You can add me to that list. Never seen any argument remotely near to convincing me otherwise.

His hands off approach and poor appointments to key leadership roles at the club was absolutely to blame for us arriving back in the Championship and then League One. However, he gave the new owners a very good opportunity to start afresh and rebuild. Short can’t be blamed for the recruitment over the last eighteen months or for where we find ourselves now. To entirely remove all agency from Donald et al is very simplistic and letting them completely off the hook

Who’s doing that? I said he was mainly to blame. Obviously many others have played their parts, including the current owners, from I would say directly after the playoff final for not sacking Ross, our poor recruitment in the summer, and other things.
Although I still think they done a good job last season considering the absolute shitstorm they walked into.

At least Short put money into the club and gave it a go, he was badly advised and put his trust in the wrong people. Was willing to cut his losses to get rid of us losing his billionaire status in the process (although I would have liked him to have done it a year earlier). The current fuckers look like they want to spend as little as possible to make the most as possible whilst bullshitting to us all in the present.

This 100%. To quote Gus, Spot on.

I agree with that.
that one decision being Maja imo. After that they went into panic mode and just continued to slide.

I just don’t see that they’ve actually done anything
See, keeping Maja would have been good, we’d have a goalscorer, but I’m not sure if anyone would have handled it differently. I don’t think anybody actually expected him to start the season, never mind score goals. He wanted a certain amount of money, we offered it, he decided to move on. Not much we can do. Apart from offer him a contract earlier. But earlier he wasn’t a priority & there was no doubt a hell of a lot of things going on that we’re considered more important. I very much doubt at that point, Bordeaux we’re paying too much attention, or he or his agent were thinking about moving on. I think we were all, Maja included, caught out by his very quick rise as a first team player.

given you just added nothing but abuse to the argument... you just lost it.

really ...please prove that. Still doesn’t change the fact Short was a failure and put this club in league one.

no agenda mate, but you do make a good point I am just a run of the mill supporter basing opinions on what I know, and can see. Whilst applying the insight and knowledge I have for managing commercial organisations.
I think people conjure things up conspiracy style in their minds based on the same info, and I think that’s unjust.
I stand to be corrected by some fact to the contrary

Good try but we can’t all be brow beaten.
Again someone choosing to use selected information whilst ignoring most of context involved
Do you seriously still believe the pr bull that they’ve fed the fans ? They’ve tried and in lots of cases succeeded in taking our fans as mugs , slowly (which is damaging our club)but surely they are being found out as the chancers that some suspected initially.

Im sure there’s some truth in that. But like I say, it’s how they handled things afterwards. Then, when things didn’t go how they expected, they tried to divide the fans.

The OP said there was one man to blame.

The absolute shitstorm they walked into was still a shitstorm that left them with a squad with some players very capable at this level. Maja, McGeady, Cattermole, Oviedo etc. They all (less so Oviedo) contributed to us getting where we did. Decisions the owners have made have led to most of those departing, us replacing them with inferior players and now we are where we are.
