Smaller Smartphones?

Can anyone recommend a small phone for about £250?

The missus (no) doesn't want a 5"+ one (fnarrr fnarr) - she's had a couple of Sony Compact phones over the last few years which she's liked, but they seem to be well over £400 now which is a bit daft these days.
Edit: Her current phone is
Dimensions129 x 65 x 9.5 mm (5.08 x 2.56 x 0.37 in)

Because I guess bezels are getting smaller all the time, so a 4.6" screen might now be more equivalent to a 5" screen?

you can get a 5.9 inch phone these days at around 140mm tall. You'd think there would be a market for a small bezel phone with a circa 5" screen.

Just spoke to her and said "compact" phones are few and far between - she seems ok with something a bit larger now, so really, just looking for a relatively smaller decent phone with a good camera for about £250.

I'd definitely be interested but most manufacturers seem to prefer increasing the size rather than shrinking them.

Aye, I can see why, but you'd think they'd also try to get a nice 5" in a small form factor too.

Maybe a Galaxy A40?

Still haven't found much in a normal size tbh. Pixel 3a might be on sale on BF.

She basically wants a very good camera, and not a large handset now - rather than an <5"one, seeing as those basically don't exist.

I much prefer a smaller phone but they are getting harder and harder to come by. My latest is a Sony Xperia XZ2 compact but even that is bigger than ideal

I'm in the same boat at the minute. Looking at a Samsung A40 but even that looks a bit too big. Guess I'll just have to get used to it.

No idea why anyone wants one of these massive phones. Surely an inconvenience to have to use two hands to use them? Some look like they'd struggle to fit in your jeans pocket.
