Getting paid early at Christmas.

I leave work at work too and me and the wife never discussed it but we knew what each other did and how much each other made.
It works for you mate. It didn’t for me
i get paid on 25. So it’s not possible. Hence paid. Week early. Also pay roll need a few days to sort things incase somebody doesn’t get paid correctly.
We’re getting paid on the last day of December. I’m a civil servant so I’ll beleive the people that pay me.

Or perhaps they have mitigating circumstances they haven't shared or maybe they haven't received the luck you have, or maybe they just see things differently than you? Who knows, but if they aren't your cup of tea, why not just wish them well?

Because it’s bollocks.

Found out today that the people I’m working for are paying us on our normal last working day of the month in December. Few people were really pissed off where as I thought well done.

Never understood the point in getting paid early. It’s like it has come as a shock to people that Christmas is coming those who are annoyed. I personally don’t spend anymore money at Christmas than I do most the year and if people do they should be able to manage their finances to cope with the extra expense. They’ll only end up f***ing brassic in the new year anyway sponging off folk who don’t waste a load of money on minature spring rolls and prawn rings.

I certainly wouldn’t pay benefits early which the Nash actually do.
How do you not spend more at Xmas? Presents alone are like £500 then you have all the additional days on the piss.

Depends who you buy for. If theres no kids you dont need to spend that much. Even then you dont need to buy everything in December. Start earlier or start putting a bit away in Jan.

Contractor so weekly payment no issues for me like... well apart from 3 weeks off over xmas with no pay but tbh looking forward to some time off.

Think had 3 weeks off inc weekends in past 2 years.

My current contract expires on Dec 31. Looking forward to giving them my week’s notice on the 13th then never going back.

Fuck the money I just can’t be arsed.

Lad at my work left a week early on this contract as it finishes next week. Don't think he could hack it so he left for a job which was like £10 an hour less the nutter.

The planning was terrible Project Manager was a spot on guy but the client who wanted to do the pre-planning done nothing.

What should be easy work has been a nightmare so glad the contract ends next week and start my new one following Monday. I'll still go in like won't quit as want the money and also don't want to let the PM down as he is sound so will just try do as much as I can do.

Just don’t feel the need to tell her. Not really arsed.

Me and my lass don’t bother buying one another anything. We’re going away before and after Christmas. Neither of us are religious so we don’t bother making a fuss. I buy my parents summat and my nephew but that’s it and I bought them stuff earlier in the year when I seen things I thought they’d like. Christmas dinner isn’t anymore expensive than a Sunday dinner and a night out or two is the norm for me. I’ll be having a few nights out but I live in Newcastle city centre and will be going out to the same places I normally do.

Christmas is great, until you have kids.

When I was in my mid-twenties with a very young family I got paid early for Christmas but spent the lot without even realising ( I was shit with money) The penny dropped I was totally skint and had nothing coming in for weeks on December the 22nd.

I had to borrow to get through it and vowed I’d never be in that position again. I applied and got a job in Saudi weeks later which was the start of over 30 years working away from home. But for that festive financial fuck up I would probably have led a very different life.

We get paid early in December, early in January (with our half yearly bonus) and normal time in February so it balances out quite well. Other than Xmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day I'll be in graft...

I'm ok with looking after my funds but no people who are skint all year round depend on being paid early in December for last minute shopping so understand why it's done.
