The finest band to ever come out of the USA

There is some genuinely great music out there with comedy elements though, some of Tim Minchin's stuff (although some is pure comedy, he's too good a piano player and songwriter to dismiss him IMO),

There’s certainly a valid claim to be made that his song Darkside was the finest tune to come out of the whole post-grunge scene like

Hell Bent for Leather was a Judas Priest track

Joe's Garage contains some belting songs. Problem with it is the whispering between every track telling the story. Get's right on your tits after a while.
It was! Golden Age of Leather I meant... I dint even like Judas Priest. :p

I think Joe's Garage is one I've tried in the past, would have to give it another whirl. I've got Sheik Yerbouti somewhere, and it's alright, but a tad hard work n a bit sackless veering back to the comedic type stuff I mentioned earlier.

I'm gonna weigh in with my choices...

First, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, despite being the best live act in the world, don't quite qualify IMHO.

The Doors. Top band, top frontman, top players, top songs, great albums (name me an American band with as strong a run of albums - thank you, you can't), influence, legacy, the myth. Everything about 'em. The only American band to come anywhere close to England's finest for impact, influence and longevity.

Hmmm.
If England's finest are The Beatles then the answer has to be The Beach Boys - influenced more bands than the doors and made more decent albums. Plus, whilst I love the doors not all of their shtick has aged that well.
Only other serious contenders are Ramones or Cheap Trick imo.

Agree. I love the Boss too but he’s a singer songwriter with a great touring band

England's finest was a collective term. One album doesn't cut it, as nice a record as Pet Sounds is.

Cheap Trick. Go away. Couldn't even record their best song reet.

Ramones... @JAZZMANB nailed it. Weary.
