Stag Weekends.

I’ve never understood why people pay someone to take them on a pub crawl.

Did Filipe do a good job?
I'm with you on that, whats the point of paying someone? If we cant find some decent bars we dont deserve to be drinking booze, just ask some locals when your there etc. Same group of lads always does it.

No he was f***ing shit, and took us to bars where he obviously got free drinks, plus he was useless at acquiring other stuff which I thought would be the only bonus of having a f***ing tour guide.

In fact the stag was so organised we didn't even know Porto had a river and some mint bars by the river, fuck sake.

Suppose it all depends on who you are with and where you are.

Been on a few that were just piss ups in Edinburgh, Nottingham and the like. Been on a couple that were organised to the nth degree and a bit of a pain in the arse

Went quad biking in Nottingham in December a few years back - probably one of the best stags I've been on.

Would kill me now.
Mine was up your neck of the woods.

South Shields on the Friday night and Newcastle on the Saturday.
Absolutely superb, 10 of us and only allowed lads that all got on. No fall outs whatsoever and the locals were spot on.

I like to do a bit of research before a stag to find things you might miss like you did with the river front bars.

Half an hour on google and job done.

I find it odd how anyone could hate stags, a day or two drinking with your mates. What's not to like?

Over organising anything is a bit dull, planning every last detail when you're away is nowt different.

Got to love a bit weekend away on the drink.

Planning your own?

Yeah, can't be assed with relying on other people. I've been to Dam countless times so know exactly what I want.

I'm not doing wacky shirts with names on. I refuse to share a dorm, or for all of us to stay in the same crap hotel. I'm letting people know the dates and getting everyone to sort themselves out. I'll be staying in the most expensive hotel I can afford, away from as many of them as possible. No shaved eyebrows for me. ;)

Always enjoyed them when I could drink although a couple of the later ones were starting to get a bit expensive. Went to Puerto Banus on one and I'd spent over 700 quid in the first 5 hours!

There is an element with some of them now about out doing everyone else. Spending thousands going to Vegas etc. totally unnecessary.

Bunch of miserable fuckers on this thread. If the activity is right for the group it can make the weekend!

I honestly think some of the SMB have no interests other than going to the football and getting pissed!

Activity can be fine as long as it doesn't become the focus of the whole weekend. Couple of hours on the second day for a bit of a change and stopping some the lightweights of the group being paralytic by about 7pm isn't a problem.

Having everything organised down to the minute though is clearly shit and unnecessary.

Probably a reflection of the whole wedding 'experience' nowadays. Younger people do seem to spend more on the whole thing which is fine if they can afford it.

I’ve never been to one that’s had everything organised down to the minute. A couple of hours activity when we arrive on the Friday lunchtime, and something cheap to kill a couple of hours on the Saturday late morning/early afternoon is usually needed to break up the drinking.

Weddings seem to one of the few things young people are willing to save for and put themselves into hardship which is bizarre.

A deposit for a house is unattainable but a 20k wedding, not a problem.
