Rugby World Cup 2019

It was a 20 point defeat.

Billy vinepola trying at least 2 no look passes rather than taking the ball into contact. I mean what is his whole game about?

Hurling the ball 15 yards and letting it bounce behind the try line. Would any amateur team try this?

Dropping the ball and giving away a penalty from the restart.

Giving away about 5 pens from the scrum (I know sinckler got carried off, but how the fuck did this happen??)

Youngs looking for a pass for ages and then chucking it into touch.

Any of the above about tactics? I don’t like the term, but really think I saw a bottle job today.

SA pre-engaged on at least 2 of them, stood up first & collapsed 2 more. Garces missed them...

...done now, move on.
Anyway, best RWC in terms of games, organisation, drama, emotion & watching the best in world sport plying their trade. Gutted it's over, bring on 2023...

I'd haul them all in and make them watch all of this. And ask why faz thought he could make that kick off the wrong side when the momentum was turning. They were reeling then. We should have hit the corner.

Let it go. We smashed Aus & NZ, smashed them! SA had a game plan, we failed to respond to that.It hurts, but that's sport.
Exactly this, SA are the best team in the southern hemisphere, England are the best in the north. Our job now is to prove it by winning the Six Nations, then learn from today and the last few weeks so that we can go that one step further next time.

Dead right it hurts now, it's shit, but it's done. As I said earlier, this team can become a real force, that's what we need to focus on now. Playing the blame game won't help.

Surprised by that today, first real test of the world cup and they didnt handle it at all.

The games against Aus and Nz England made go their way and took full advantage today they had a challenge a massive set of opponents and a game where they had to use their heads and think and battle their way to a win and failed massively.

Monstered in the scrum, lacking in the breakdown , the worst ive seen Youngs play in years and a ref that maybe didnt help, shocked Owen missed that second penalty ( the same as the one he converted 5 minutes earlier ) and from that moment on chased the game and it opened up !

Think Jones was wrong not to put the biggest strongest forward pack from the start but mevermind good building blocks

Having watched the game again I can safely say we were out matched in every area.

The fact Ben Young’s has managed as many test caps as he has shows how weak our scrum half options are.

I’d have liked to see Nowell in for may or Daly as I think they have both been weak this WC, Daly in particular.

I would never criticise a penalty kicker. It’s a difficult skill. The fact Farrell hits so many means it’s a shock when he misses.

we basically got our game plan all wrong today. Passing, kicking, crash ball was all badly executed

simple and to the point ......well said

SA played exactly how they wanted and did it so well that they also had england and the officials playing exactly how they wanted

I thought May had a good World Cup I wouldn’t have dropped him. To be honest I don’t think it was the backs that lost us the match. We struggled at the scrum and breakdown, that cost us the game. Once we were chasing the game we fell to bits. The full team started nervy.

I don’t know if we peaked last week and that took it out of us but we didn’t turn up today. We knew how South Africa would play and we failed to come up with a way of dealing with it.

Still think the ref was poor and it set the tone of the game early on, the game was getting out of reach due to the penalties awarded against us. When we failed to score a try first half, when South Africa defended brilliantly, I feared the worst. It was like they took everything we had and didn’t break.

When you think about it England are simply an inconsistent team.
They’re inconsistent from game to game and also within games, they’ve been like that for a while.
They can hit fantastic heights but they can also reach the depths.
It’s a mentality thing, today I thought was a bottle job, South Africa didn’t do anything they wouldn’t have expected.

It’s a mentality thing with England and sport. We have the talent but we shit our pants on the big occasion or hype ourselves up to believe we are better than we are.

today was the worst performance I’ve seen in a final by England. We shit our pants from The first minute.

Sick of hearing already about how great this is for SA tbh. Nothing will change in SA off the back off this.

Definitely, if you look at football England usually struggle at latter stages of the tournament it’s got to be down to mentality and in rugby we’ve been to 4 World Cup finals and won 1, and that was a close one.

I agree the South Africa love in after they won was ridiculous. It’s still a country with a lot of issues and this doesn’t change that.

Was thinking that the England squad were far too cocky and vocal whilst S.A were relatively silent before the game, even predicted that S.A to win 30 - 12 so not far off, but ultimately could'nt give a fuck that England lost as it's a public school wankers game.

You couldn’t give a fuck but posted on a thread about it. Interesting

Same with the 6 nations.

Went in with low expectations following a bad run. First game against a dominant Ireland in their own backyard and played them off the park and got a resounding victory. England are then hyped to death for the rest of the 6 nations, how Eddie Jones men are back, hand them the trophy now, the grand slam etc.

Then they lose to Wales and couldn't even beat Scotland at home.

Similar story in the WC. Some superb heights as you say, but there's always absolute stinker under Eddie Jones somewhere.

That's the reason why I didn't trust the bookies making England hot favourites. Beat Australia, beat New Zealand, but you know there's a bad game round the corner, and South Africa being written off as big underdogs was always going to be a disaster in the making.
