In fairness, it appears Nixon was right re a takeover collapsing. FPP set up a holding company, it was reported by sources close to the clubs hierarchy that the investment was more akin to a takeover with Donald staying on as a minority shareholder and running proceedings. That isn’t happening in that fashion. This investment is clearly a very different arrangement
But Donald himself had said from day one, in fact before we even got to day one that it was always investment that we would need to move on at higher levels and investment now we were looking at. The guy in May (who seemed to initially think it was a takeover before it collapsed) suggested takeover as did various media sources, but Donald kept on saying investment and he mentioned investment time and time again even going back to last season.
Donald despite others saying he wanted a quick profit and to get out, even though he may still be getting a quick profit somehow, maintained they wanted to stay and oversee/be involved with the football club over some five year plan they had IIRC.
Maybe what collapsed is that these guys wanted the club lockstock and barrel and Donald and Co's main sticking point wasn't the price as was guessed in the media, but their involvement.
