Takeover

everytime a fan criticises SD as being only here for a profit..they are implying that safc shouldnt be owned by people who want a profit...so they must think people should own for for non profit makig reasons..ie a charity..
I have no issue with SD or CM making a profit at some point because they took a risk and if they do the Club is in a much better place. I think every sensible fan appreciates that.

However, they are custodians of our great club and we have to balance that if we have some pretty serious people wanting to invest they should be trying to make that happen and not holding them to ransom which Im sure they wont be.

If SD and CM pull this deal off they will be legends at SAFC and should never need to buy a pint in the City again.

Honestly I think you bite too much to some on here...of course every club has idiots they arent representative of the vast majority of sensible SAFC fans I know.

these are billionaires, they would need to be taking 20's of millions each OUT of the club every year to make it worth their while

makes zero sense whatsoever

Your failure to perceive something that isn't staring you in the face doesn't mean it doesn't make sense.

Care to do the math on buying to sell if that is what you're suggesting?

You realise you will now have to justify your post, show your workings out and everything ;)

Is speculating about this investment / takeover a bad thing, I'm struggling to see why it becomes such a contentious issue

everyone is speculating as nobody is in the room where discussions take place, and we are speculating on a message board, amazing isn't it. We all have friends who know people or may work at a low/mid level at the club and they talk. The only facts that matter are what is released by the club, but more so what happens on the pitch. Some real anger in some posters threads.

it actually sounds really feasible in the current circumstances and one of the most sensible options i've heard so far 😬

Sensible on a takeover thread?

I don't profess to know how a loan is converted into shares or why it would be beneficial to us or them, but as long as we have investment coming that helps us grow on and off the pitch then it has to be welcomed

I don't know anyone who works at the club , well my cousin was mascot once many many years ago but I don't think that counts

That "spend 100m and sell for 250m." That was nonsense mate, figures are daft.
amend them to what you think may be right

but the sum of sale price will be higher than purchase price plus spending is likely to be spot on

The one thing I’ve never been critical of from the owners is the financial side, the footballing side, especially recruitment/scouting leaves a lot to be desired mind! Get that right and the club will be back on an upward curve

depends on what you spend it on. have you seen what we bought? how much did short pay for our club and how much did he spend on it? it was worth virtually fuck all at the end.

I don't think it is. I think even if you get the spending bang on, the margin would be tiny and there is massive potential for it to go wrong. It doesn't make sense to me if you consider the probable math for longer than 20 seconds.

it leaves options for everyone... they loan us some cash, if we can pay it back fine they get their money we get the benefit of using it, if we can't or choose not to at any time we give them a share in the club in exchange for the debt being written off.

GOM mentioned it a few weeks ago and i've thought about it more and more and it really does seem a good fit. we'll see i suppose.

yeep..short sold the equity for £15m having paid £30m for the equity..so he lost £15m at that level..
but of course also the hundred odd million he put in..

ellis short converted loans to shares throughout his time at safc..
and SD has done it..or will do the conversion soon.
abranamwhich at chelsea has done it as well..
its potentially benficial for tax..but the more common reason is that creditors have more control than shareholders if a company goes bust..so loans give an owner an elemnet of control more than just having the shares woud..
