More outlandish protesting.

Their beliefs are out-dated, ill-informed, dangerous and harmful.
A way of funding their beliefs should not be welcome in a forward thinking country.

We've been down that road before. You know I'm right.
What consequences must you pay?

If it's just people having the right to say things back we have no disagreement.

But it shouldn't involve the law or violence.

Who are these people that wield the power of so called minorities to get businesses closed and how do I become one if these people?

So the owners are opposed to same sex marriage, is that so wrong? What these groups are saying is that you’ve got to support same sex marriage, what gives them the right to say that? Surely the owners are allowed their opinions too as long as they aren’t doing nothing anything illegal?

Seriously, this f***ing country man, we’ve got fiddling bastard corrupt politicians making law and complete fannies being outraged by the slightest thing shaping social views. Where does it all end?

The difference is, this corporation doesn't just have an opinion that they are opposed to same sex marriage, they campaign and donate to campaigns, using their considerable influence to prevent and criminalise same sex marriage. They've also donated to organisations that provide the controversial (and abusive) gay conversion therapy. The people they are trying to prevent from having the same rights as everyone else have simply exercises their own political influence.

I think this revelation is a sufficient moral argument as to why people don't want to give them money.

Agreed. And with that, Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences.

Hmm. Are you doing this on purpose?
Are they going around kidnapping gays off the street and forcing them into re-sexing programmes? Are they actively advertising for gays to be vilified?

Let’s put it another way, if you’re getting so uptight about their beliefs, do you research h every company’s ethos you buy stuff from? I’m sure you don’t otherwise there’d be very little you’d be able to buy due to companies beliefs that child exploitation in manufacturing is ok, etc.

This is the problem for me, the whole thing smacks of hypocrisy. Yes, gender is the hot topic at the minute so that gets the headlines. Some company that doesn’t like gays and donates to some backward Mickey Mouse anti gay organisation as opposed to the companies that exploit labour forces and get no coverage what so ever.

If these do goodies want to be credible then go and close down GAP shops, etc

Well in this case, losing business and people finding out that you're a bunch of hate-filled religious nutjobs
Yeah exactly.

That's what I agree with.

That line is used incorrectly sometimes though, people say freedom of speech is not freedom from consequence and then say that applies if the authorities arrest you.

Which is obviously not the case because freedom of speech fundamentally is the ability to say things wihtout fear of state persecution.

Or in bizarre cases (although I have seen it said on here) they will say it means people can be violent towards you which is off limits aswell.

Are you for real? Do you really believe that England is a forward thinking country?😂😂. A country that voted to leave Europe based on racism and bigotry...yep, definitely forward thinking

I can donate to the flat earth society, doesn’t mean the earth is going to become officially flat.

I totally get that their views are backward etc, I don’t agree with them, but let’s see the figures to show what influence they’ve had, as I said, it’s not like people are being dragged off the street into re-second programmes

You seem awfully put out about this entire thing. Do you agree with the owners of Chick-a-filla?

Ah the B Word. Well let's not go down that particular cul-de-sac. Not everyone in the country voted for starters. Not everyone who voted to leave voted because they're racist.

Pound to a penny that they did

Corporate campaign finance is one of the most powerful tools in American finance. Their dollars have gone into ensuring lawmakers prevent gay people having equal marriage rights. And they have donated to organisations who have not only persuaded people to coerce children who had little choice in the matter into gay conversion "therapy" causing untold damage. One of the organisations they donated to supported campaigning in Africa which led to at least one country passing laws to make homosexuality a capital crime.

So they have actively provided resources to cause gay people to have legal rights denied them, be forcibly confined and brainwashed and psychologically damaged to try and stop them being gay, and for gay people to be actually killed.

But yeah it's just about opinions, and if someone *does* that you should just *say* something

Good post, based on fact and points well made, I like that and agree with what you’re saying.

The point is the protestors want to make a statement that there should be a price to pay (in the way of profits) for supporting gay conversion therapy.

Aslong as it's peaceful and on public land I don't have a problem with it.

Chick fillet should respond to them, put up with it and hope it goes away or shut down.

But this is freedom of speech mate, people have a right to voice their opinion on a matter. And their opinion is people should know who ultimately gets the money for this food outlet.
