Just shows

what a difference a manager can make. There's no way PP can have done anything much about fitness levels or even coached all that many new ideas into the players in such a short time. So, if it's not physical change it must be psychological-even so, must take more than a few days to boost someone's confidence or self belief.

Makes me wonder if the players didn't like playing for Ross.

It’s football mate, happens all the time, almost no rhyme or reason to it.

The main difference was the players getting the ball moving quicker, especially going forward and getting the ball into the box instead of fannying about trying to beat the defender 3 and 4 times. Important not to get carried away with anything like "This was all down to PP" or "we've turned a corner" though, all about doing it on a regular basis now

Seemed that way to me. Also, giving their players less time on the ball seemed to help at times. They dinnit like it up them @hank williams

Its amazing what a win can do like

It is.

This kinda reminds me of the transition from Mick Buxton to Peter Reid.

Buxton was as defensive as Ross was, massed ranks of players in defence and midfield whose primary aim was to prevent conceding.
When we did have the ball it was usually an aimless hoof to the head of Don Goodman with tippy feeding off the scraps and (as a print journalist put it), "midfielders told to sit back so much they'd need an ordinance survey map if they crossed the half way line".

Once we'd fought ourselves out of the relegation zone, Reid took the same group of players (minus Goodman) and some fringe players and got them playing as a team for each other and attacking more. And that was the beginning of it all.
The same players plus a few fringe players and a couple of signings.

Hopefully the 'Buxton Handbrake' that Ross found when he came here is well and truly 'off'.

I really hope PP gives it a go, we've nothing to lose and everything to gain, and I hope he gets time to do it when it goes off the rails a bit too.

all PP did was play them in a formation that suited..he could work on that for two days in training and it wpuld be enough to beat tranmere..and a proper manager can spot which formation suits very quickly..

Jack Ross could have quite easily had that result last night.

Jack Ross had to go, but Tranmere last night were a very poor team.
yes but they are higher up the league than other teamss, teams that are poorer, and JR couldnt get the result against them. JR set the team up in a way that meant five goals wouldntnt happen..he couldnt hanfdle te pressure of being expected to win most of the time and so set the team up to not lose.
