Striker
I have the following all in one desktop.

Just downloaded FIFA 20 and tried to play it and it's unplayable due to poor graphics and huge lag, tried it on the lowest settings you can but nothing changes.

Surely my PC is powerful enough to run this game? or is it?

Minimum specs for fifa 20 are 8gb ram and a 2gig gtx 640.

You have 8 gig. Your integrated graphics which os benchmarked higher than the minimum card uses system ram afaik.

Could be what's causing issues.

I have seen similar spec'd machines running fifa 20 at a reasonable frame rate.

Search youtube for "fifa 20 uhd 620" and there's a few videos and discussions of the settings to use (apparently it works better when directX 11 is enabled, rather than 12)

Also the most up to date drivers apparently have some tweaked settings for fifa 20.
Saw the following in a forum for how to make the game use DX11:

Guys do this. Go to mydocuments/fifa 20 open fifasetup file and change DIRECTX_SELECT to 1. Save and don't go to launcher settings anymore because it can reverse it. Also first change fps in launcher to unlimited and force vsync in nvidia 3d settings for Fifa 20. It will help with menu and cutscenes 30fps lock

So set all of your settings to the lowest values using the usual tool. Then do the above & never look at the settings page again.

which forum was this?

The actual EA FIFA forum as far as I can tell

They're on about the demo of fifa20, but it's fair to assume the same fix will work for the full game too.
cheers mate, have a virtual pint

That didn't work :(

I always check with this to see if I can run a game before buying it.

Intel graphics are so bad that they don't even call the Core i- series of processors APUs, and simply call them CPUs.
AMD APUs have been better than Intel's offerings for years for graphics, although until Ryzen came out, they couldn't touch intel on the processing side of the chip.

Sorry, that all in one is likely unupgradable. Those things are basically a laptop with a large screen. Unless they have a free port inside to add a graphics card, there's nothing you can do. You mentioned adding external graphics - even if you had the ports for that (and someone has said "nope" above), the case and then the cost of the card would be daft anyway

Chink of light - Google Stadia might provide a solution for you.

"For graphics processing, the Aspire S 24 uses Intel's integrated UHD Graphics 620, which shares silicon with the processor and has the same 12GB of memory. The result will be fine for streaming video or playing browser-based games, but even a game like Dirt 3, which has a fairly light graphics load, managed to play at just 29.11 frames per second (fps) — just below the 30 fps we consider to be the threshold for playability. As this thread is still niggling away at me, I had a look about for ways to improve your experience.

This site lists all of the ways to ensure your built in Gfx are working at their best (though that will still be rubbish).

This explains how to do step 2 on the first link.

The only thing that will really help, as you said, is to improve the performance of the graphics processing, and the only part that he can really change here is the memory, as its shared with the system.

So yep, making sure its in dual channel mode is one thing. Also, upgrading the Ram for faster speeds will also help.

But its not going to make more than a few % difference in all honesty.

there must be a converter!

No, because the Thunderbolt 3 speed is way faster than USB

You would be able to get a converter that coverts a USB signal into Thunderbolt 3 connectivity but not the other way around.

Think about it like you had 2 containers of liquid, a 330ml can (USB) and a 5 gallon jug (Thunderbolt 3). You could empty the entire contents of the 330ml can into the 5 gallon jug but you couldn't get the entire contents of the 5 gallon jug in the 330ml can.

Faster than USB3.1 too, even though its the same port and you can use the same cables (to a point):

What is Thunderbolt 3?

Developed by Intel and announced in June 2015, Thunderbolt 3 has all of the advantages of 3.1 with a few additions. For one, it features an even higher bandwidth capability than USB 3.1 with data transfer speeds of up to 40Gbps – 4x over what we already thought was the breakneck speed of USB 3.1.
