Rowing machines

That the ones the gyms have isn't it? They're about 850 quid, dont really want to pay that much if I'm honest.

Not a bad shout, but theres always the danger they might not work as well as a new one. And its had someones sweaty arse on it before mine
True. I picked up one for about £50 a couple of years ago and it was spot on.

they are put you can get them second hand for a bit cheaper than that. How much were you looking to pay? My experience of cheap carido gear is its usually shit.

You can rent concept 2's too.

Was thinking something upto £400.

I suppose the concept rowers are built to last
yer they're an industrial workhorse. I'm 250lbs like but cheaper rowers, treadmills and cross trainers i've used just feel really flimsy.

You might get an older concept 2 with the wooden handle for that. They're still used it plenty of gyms and obviously still going strong.
if you could stretch to £500 and you're local I'd let my model D with PM3 monitor go

ended up going for one of these, seems to have good reviews and compared to air resistance rowers theres not meant to be any lag.

Looks canny that. I’ve a concept model C in my garage gym. “Upgraded it with a plastic handle to replace the wooden one and a PM4 monitor. Picked the whole lot up for around £500 second hand. Old now but absolutely bomb proof bit of gear. Works great and a fantastic workout. I’d say any half decent rower will give you a similarly tough work out. No hiding place on it mate. Best of luck and stick with it!

Aye, had to use the chat function cos I the checkout wasnt working and they were spot on in sorting it out
Found them very good to deal with. Bought about 100kg of Olympic plates last year. About 2/3 price I’d have got them at nearest competitor and only charged about a tenner for shipping to NI. Poor Yodel fella near broke his back dropping them to front door :p

Do you have specific workouts you all do on them? I often fancy using them at the gym but get bored after 5 minutes.
Without getting nerdy and bogged into detail, there’s plenty of different workouts for them. Have a look on the concept rower site. There’s a tutorial on proper technique (so you get the best out of it without knacking yourself) and you can sign up to have a workout of the day sent to your email. Easy, medium or hard. Combination of endurance or sprints. Great workout. No hiding place on one of them. Legs, back, shoulders, arms and cardio in one. No impact too so easy on the old joints.
