Rugby World Cup 2019

England versus France now confirmed as off. 0-0 draw. 2pts each.

TOTAL FARCE

Should have moved it on Monday/ Tuesday when concerns were first raised. Could easily have rearranged it. Five days notice is easily enough time to get two sides to a new location. All the others resources required, like stewards etc, could easily have been set up in time as well. It’s not like they aren’t all geared up for hosting a tournament at all.... The nature of Japanese people is that the volunteers would have stepped up to the challenge. Also Japans infrastructure is brilliant and could have got many people to a new location. Could have made tickets free or significantly reduced to local schools etc to get a crowd in.
Also why on earth did the organisers not have a contingency plan in place for any game getting abandoned when the tournament is being played in a region notorious for having severe wet weather around this time of year.
It's only as stupid as running the Ashes in late summer in the UK. Could have gone either way.

I understand that safety is the first concern, but it'd be totally unfair for teams to be knocked out as a result. Can they really not just postpone the game by a day or two?! I realise that changing the venue for the same day is a no-go because it would mean thousands of people traveling through the typhoon's path.

I sort of don't see the point in rearranging the England game if both teams are already through, but Italy and Scotland could both be eliminated and that can't be right (Italy already are).

I realise that rugby players need longer rests between games, but the fact that you can't postpone a match by a day or two seems utterly ridiculous. I'm also surprised that their broadcasters accept that games can just be cancelled instead of shifted.

Aside from wanting Scotland to go through, there's also the fact that the match between Scotland and Japan was looking to be a cracking finish to the group stages.

Let's face it, its not a big deal for the tournament overall if the Scotch go out one stage earlier.

I think the opposite. We need to build a bit of momentum and thrashing the french would have helped as we haven’t been very good so far for me.
Agree. We've not had a workout yet it been put under any pressure. Might have been different had lavanwhatshisname not seen red

Suppose they could move it but i think both sides will be fairly happy not to play. no injuries, longer recovery etc.

The Scotland v Japan game has to go ahead, regardless of location. Its a huge game and with so much riding on it they need to do all they can to play it

If Scotland vs Japan has to go ahead then so does Italy vs NZ. The Italians can still qualify (albeit that it's pretty much impossible to do so).

Thats been called off already too hasn't it? Think it was pretty unlikely they were going to get a bonus point win over NZ without NZ getting a losing bonus point. But agree, with the fact there was still some chance they should have tried to get it on.

Be chaos if the storm re-directs or weakens and they call more games off

Yeah, it has been called off already. I think that increases the chance of them deciding to call of Scotland vs Japan. It's a farcical situation!

We need a good game and heading in to the 1/4s without playing a half-decent opposition will be a negative for me. I was really looking forward to this game too.

I'm FUMMIN!

Eddie Jones will be doing backflips. Wins the group and no injuries.

England were supposed to have 5 huge matches en route to the final. They’ve had an easy match against Argentina and one called off. 2 down, 3 to go! (Maybe)

Aussies will be itching to put us out again.
We’ve had no tests in this WC.
