Recommend me a SUV for 14k Also tell me what to avoid !

knew this would happen a car to me is to get me from A to B not into the
Avoid the Renault Kadjar. Ours eats oil, I have to stick a litre in a month minimum.

It’s been to the garage 4 tines about it and every time we are told that the oil top up periods are “within tolerance”.

Finance is up next year, we’ll be getting rid.
cheers for that

Every A4, A5 and A6 I’ve had has been about 45mpg. They’ve all been Quattro though and I know that takes a bit off

Everyone’s driving style and usage varies a lot so impossible to directly compare. An SUV has the aerodynamics of a fridge so will always be inferior pound for pound.

Funnily enough I have just got one on a cracking short term lease.
Thought it was funny that it comes with a litre of oil in the boot.

When I was with Nissan and they started with the Renault Alliance (Renault running gear etc.) we started getting this. Can’t believe it’s still a thing...

I know they say it’s in tolerance, and it is, it’s a disgrace.

I don’t know if any other vehicle where this happens.

I’ve been driving 17 years and never needed to change oil in a car between services until we got the Kadjar. Everyone thinks I’m talking shite when I talk about it.

This might not help but mpg and space seem to be important to you. If that’s the case I’d sack off those two awful options and get a German estate which will be superior in every way. 14k would get you something nice.
Will be doing the same when my lease is up, but German estates offer fuck all value and you’re better off with a Mondeo estate in my opinion. And the Mazda 6 estates look value too.

If I was to be tempted to buy German, the VW Passat seems to offer the best value.

As title got 14k to spend
Ive got a top 2 of a quashqai n connecta or a kia sportage '3' I know I know ! 2 very vanilla suvs
which is the more economical ? can't go off offical figures as they are b#llshit
any good or bad experiences with either ?
Ive test driven both and both seemed to drive and handle well ,but the sportarge seems a bigger beast than the nissan back end height length so i'm expecting less mpg
ive had both as company cars over the years and the kia was a better car in my opinion

Depends where you see the value tbh, it’s subjective. A nice spec e class 6 cylinder will be expensive but if you aren’t picky a standard 4cyl merc won’t be miles away from a nice spec Mondeo. I think the German cars age better too, can still look classy at 10 year old. Never had a mondeo but the journalists seem to think they are brilliant like, I don’t think you can go wrong there.
16 plate so assume it’s the first model. TCE petrol

Look on the bright side, nice fresh oil in there all the time, it will run forever!

I’d buy cheap stuff if it’s burning a litre every 1k.

As others have said, get a decent estate instead. I’ve had a Toyota Avensys for 8 years, nowt goes wrong, it carries loads, is very comfortable on a decent run and is economical (averaging just over 40mpg in a 1.8 litre petrol). Only gripe I have is the lack of power, needs reviving a bit to accelerate hard.

I just pop to Sainsbury/Tesco every time the light come on. Occasionally I’ll buy a big one in Halfords but it’s the other end of town so
I’m rarely near.

That was my other choice on pure load space and reliability. Went for the crv in the end cos a nice spec one turned up and it was a toss up between the two.
