Lapland with the bairns

anyone done it, thoughts...and would it be too much for a 4 year old, the eldest would be fine

fancy booking it next year cos i want to see the real santa in his proper home not some f***ing tinpot shed in peterlee

actually i want to go on one one of them dog sleds and a snowmobile but aye anyway.

We did the 1 day trip. £400 each, you are there about 4 hours total. Long day and absolute rip off but absolutely glad we did it - great experience. Met the big fella in his cabin in the woods (taken there by sled) dog sled rides, sledging, snow mobile rides, some indoorsy craft stuff.

I've done the day trip twice.

It's a rip off but very well done and the kids loved it. When you walk through the woods to his cabin (guided by the elf) it's creepy
, but when you go into his house you can't help but laugh at their faces when he says...

"Oooo, that sounds like young Charlie, he's on my good list you know.
Are you still wanting that new phone for Christmas?
My Elves have busy making you one!"

Obviously you supply the name and gift to them beforehand, but the look on their face is priceless.

Won a trip through work a few years ago. went to the Swedish Lapland, it Was absolutely shite, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The bairn was only 3 like.

We did it when the bairn was a little older. It was great. Went sledging down a big hill near the hotel, on sleds pulled by huskies, sled pulled by reindeer, did some daft activities like walking on snowshoes, decorating a christmas tree, digging a snow hole with elves; and got to see Santa. The real one!

Ask him where my f***ing bike is, been over fifty year since I asked for it.

Lapland is incredible. The most amazing scenery ever but BASTARD cold. Coldest I’ve ever been, even with full Alpine snowboarding gear on.... and this was in April.

We done the day trip to Rovaniemi a few years back- it was tremendous. Looong day though, the flight back to Newcastle was full of sleeping bairns. As someone earlier said, it's very well done- meeting the big man, husky sledding, reindeer, about 4 feet of proper snow- lush little day. Wish I'd took my kids when they were littler, as one aged 14 and one aged 10 they didn't get into it as much as the proper wee uns. Think we landed in Finland at about 1100, and took off about 1900 so you get a good amount of time there. Also got our passports stamped to show we'd crossed into the Arctic Circle- the row of lights in the pic shows the line of latitude as it cuts through the town :cool:
