You’ll find that, An acronym is a word or name formed as an abbreviation from the initial components of a phrase or a word, usually individual letters (as in "NATO" or "laser") and sometimes syllables (as in "Benelux").

and on subject of Captain Scarlet and having to watch it back in the 60s on B&W television and not being able to tell which colours where who at a glance (Capt Scarlet was red, Capt Blue was blue, etc so unless you were Capt Black or Colonel White it was never obvious ) I seem to recall that back in the day of newspapers and B&W photos being only media for news, that there is a club in Argentina that was set up by a local who was a Sunderland fan (so my guess around time we were champs of England a lot) but who ended up being kitted out in Black & White striped shirts because the newspapers back then didn't do colour photos!

I learnt today that there is an Earl of Sunderland.

Apparently back in 1627 King Charles I created an Earldom of Sunderland. Current Earl is Jamie Spencer-Churchill, the Duke of Marlborough, one of his other titles being Earl of Sunderland.

Never knew this.

I have a hospital appointment on Monday, for a brain scan, and a Synacthen test.
I just got a phone call from the hospital, to remind me

St John’s Wood station in London is the only station on the underground network that doesn’t contain any letters that appear in the word mackerel.

Fly spray is not meant to be sprayed directly onto the flies, its meant to be sprayed across the full size of the room with doors and windows kept closed.

That's not true at all.
It can be used for that, but also for a direct knock down you spray it directly on the offending beast. Says so on the tin

The RAID aerosols don't say to spray it onto the fly, it says with RAID there is no need to spray directly at the flying insects.
