Civil service Job application, interview result

Anyone with any experience of this? Been on a waiting list for 12 months now, it expires on Saturday, I thought 12 months was the maximum, however today received an email stating it has been extended for a further 8 weeks. They are also recruiting for work coaches at the minute which is the same grade I am on the reserve list for. Would they be allowed to start interviewing before offering jobs to those on the reserve list?

If the criteria for work coaches is different to what you were assessed at then yes.

Sounds like they are waiting to see what happens with Brexit if they have extended the reserve list by 8 weeks

What do people actually do generally as an average joe in the Civil Service like? I've nee idea.

Absolutely fuck all.

The sheer amount of incompetent, lazy, workshy ******** in the civil service is hugely surprising.

They can extend it as often as they want, as long as you're on a reserve list you will be ahead of new applicants for that role and similar roles.

To put things in to perspective, people I work with have been on a waiting list for EO border force positions since November last year. 2 Months ago, over 300 border force jobs were listed on CS jobs, I applied as did numerous others, the shortlisting / expected interview date was from 4th September, we have all received an email stating our application is being banked and as and when jobs come up in our areas we will be offered interviews.

The whole thing is a cluster fuck, partially blameable on brexit.

In the CS defence - the current situation with Brexit means it is impossible to plan. For example if we don't leave the EU or we leave with a deal then we wont need loads of extra border staff.

No one knows what's going to happen but if we do crash out at the end of this month then ar least the Border Force are ready to start with interviews and recruiting staff into roles.

From a resource planning perspective it's an absolute nightmare

The reserve list I am on was for a decision maker, these new jobs are for a Work Coach, however they both fall under operations so it’s the same area of business. If people get interviewed for the Work Coach job and get a higher score will they get the job ahead of people who are already on the Reserve list? They are advertising 38 work coach jobs so what I don’t understand is why those of us on the list haven’t been offered one.

As I said earlier - it's all down to the framework you were assessed against.

Have a look at your application from last year and compare it to the work coach application.

I'm guessing you were accessed against three or four parts of the framework. Are these the same parts as what the work coaches are asking for?

For example I would imagine a work coach application would ask about Developing yourself and others. If it is and this wasn't requested in your application then yes they can ignore a reserve list as you wont have been assessed against the skills they want

Its Different framework, however about 2 weeks ago I also received an email stating that as I am already on a reserve list and they now have WC vacancies would i be interested in one of them and to send them my location preferences, heard nothing back until today when I got the generic list has been extended email.

This has happened to someone I work with, It happened to myself in March just before I was offered my current role. I'm pretty sure it means you're going to be considered for direct appointment.
