The problem is well known, they want to live in London, ask any team in the North and they all say the big players won't live in the North
Not really sure. I struggle to see how they can make that much money.
Even as a decent premier League team I can't see us being worth more than £175m. If they are paying £40 or £50m and have to spend to get up then spend to get out of championship and then spend to stay and stabilise in premier League, it's not leaving much if you ask me.
I suppose if my figures are way off and it's 40 to 250m then it starts making more sense.
There is clearly a financial angle somewhere. They must be expecting a continued premier League expansion.
These lads' remit is growing their wealth through prudent investment . No track record with any sports franchises and no indication of a vanity project to disrupt what is a very mature soccer market.
There is no doubt geography has pit a few off. Keane complained about it when he was managing us and living in Manchester.
I just think if a player is more concerned with the weather, choice of nightclubs or were his wife goes shopping then he's unlikely to take us forward.
All north east clubs could do better at selling the region. Accepting the narrative we are a frozen, post-industrial wasteland only favours agents and greedy players.
They won’t be doing it personally m8, it’ll be advisors who are on it, they’ll be briefed and make decisions at board meetings, but this will be something that’s happening without them.one thing I've not seen mentioned although not read most of the thread
these are busy business people, they won't be spending all day every day on this deal
it's entirely possible there will be days or even weeks between meetings/calls
My thoughts entirely !Not obliged no, but if that is how they are playing it then be honest, dont talk about being open and that the fans are of the upmost importance. It's our club apparently, they're just the custodians.
That's how rich people become richerIf you have severel billion pounds, what would be the point in investing tens or hundreds of millions over a few years just to make a few million IF you are successful. Pocket change to these people it just doesn't make sense. If and when it happens I think they'll be in it to enhance their reputation across the world imho
I know Man City did similar but dunno if they closed that loophole? They can just dodge FFP by naming it the Dell Stadium or something

Derby did similar a few months back.
Could become the Costa Dell SoLDerby did similar a few months back.
Think Derby did it by selling their ground to another company, which may have had similar ownership
IIRC I think there is a check being made as to the valuation placed on the ground
Good pointone thing I've not seen mentioned although not read most of the thread

Or alternatively it could be businessmen buying an asset at its lowest value to sell on when its value rises
I've just asked Pep and Klopp and they said you're talking absolute shite. The problem is well known, they want to live in London, ask any team in the North and they all say the big players won't live in the North
I understand enough about HNWI wealth managers not to project any of my fantasies onto themKnow them well do you?

The only way the value rises is if we get promoted to the Premier League and solidify our status there. I fail to see how they could make money any other way - in which case, what’s the problem?
