Gary Numan

He’s playing in my neck of the woods tonight. I’ll probably go along.
Well worth it.

He has a huge catalogue now and went through tracks from all of his albums, including his pre Replicas Tubeway Army days. He started with Ruin which is an excellent track and Numan gets better with age. I first saw him at the City Hall Newcastle way back in 1979. He has a loyal fan base up here and they were out in force, as expected last night.

As I also said Psychedelic Furs are playing on 9 October in Newcastle. Last saw them when they supported Iggy Pop (IIRC) way back in 1980 or so.

My first ever gig...was 14 yr old ...absolutely loved it

into you like a train
I think that The Furs are based more in the USA now and I've waited for them to come to Newcastle again for years. Really looking forward to it.

When they came in 1980 we were in the bar downstairs afterwards - I was 18/19 or so - and the band came down for a few beers. We craiced on to them for quite a while. Nice lads. Sister Europe is an all time favourite of mine and their first LP was superb.
Few mates did ,said it was class
I had a mate followed him right through the 80s and 90s when he couldn't give his tickets away .He's good mates with him now
He really was good and I'm slightly disappointed that during the 90's I lost track of him, however he did lose his way for a bit, a bit like Bowie, before coming back stronger than ever.

I think he enjoyed a quieter existence at that time ,releasing stuff and doing small tours

On at the O2 in Newcastle last night. Superb. Anyone else go?

Psychedelic Furs on next month. Haven’t seen them since 1980.

Psychedelic Furs Love my Way must be one of the best singles never to break the top 40.
Was going to get tickets but didn't, I might regret it.

Away so missed newcastle
Doing Leeds, Hull and Roundhouse
Wass supposed to have been chocka last night?
I was upstairs in the balcony, row L, but from what I could tell it looked very full. Upstairs was 75% full.
We queued up to get seats at the front. No online booking then. Sure the little plastic 'robots' kept breaking down.
Cant remember them breaking down at Newcastle, may be mistaken. I've got a load of photos somewhere, probably at my parents, that I took on his first 2 visits to Newcastle. I should hunt them out.

Saw him at Symphony Hall last year - it was absolutely brilliant! Savage is a great album too - especially live.
