Surely the interest of say £1b (yes I know that's optimistic) would fund enough of a transfer budget for the championship without having to dip into the original capital injection? Add into that increase in sponsorship, stadium naming rights and increased TV revenue and there would be no way we'd end up £10m in the hole

    The investment needed to get from a squad of players and coaches who wouldn't make Championship reserves to being a successful premier league club is several hundred million so why not just spend it now ?
    There's a reason why these people have never invested in sports franchises before and why they've bought a corner shop rather than a top brand.
    You're a strangely excitable bunch and moving on from the Don should be viewed as some kind of progress, even if it's little different to the numerous other lower league clubs who have seen investment from various "gazillionaires", but realistically you should probably be concerning yourselves more with what your going to do with your increasingly unpopular manager and a squad who can't put a run together in the third division rather than dreaming about winning the Premier League.

Aye probably but I was just using that figure as an example. In reality they'd be highly unlikely to put any massive funds in the bank now and even £100m wouldn't gain enough interest to fund the championship spend required if there's an aim of swift promotion. So really I was just highlighting that even if they put money in now, it can't be used next season without counting as a loss

Yeah I get that but there are ways around it it that was just a very simplistic example. These four a way more clever Than I am and also have the money to employ other intelligent people to work solely on the problem

There's definitely ways around FFP, never argued that there isn't. I was just replying to someone who asked whether you can gift money now (as it is allowed in league one) and spend it all over the next few years in the championship and, sadly, the answer is no, they'll need to be more creative than that. I have no doubts about them managing it mind, there's no doubt ways around it and I'm sure they'll find them

What about phased funding? i.e. 5 million sponsorship for the remainder of the season in this league, 15 million the season after etc, as long as theres an incremental perceived profit to be had
