Running Thread 2019

Aimed for 2:15 and managed 2:14:34 after bonking pretty hard up that final hill on mile 10/11

Absolutely over the moon for a fat lad that couldn’t run a mile in May. Seriously been bitten by the running bug and have already signed up for Kielder 10k next month

Can’t wait to do more!!

Edit: started around zone J due to getting in late and H being closed

2:08 for me which I'm happy about with only 4 weeks training. Had to stop for a slash at mile 10 as well and found it hard to start again after that.

Want to carry on running this time as usually stop after the Great North Run until the next year. Was thinking probably 3 runs a week which will be the parkrun, an hour run and a long run of about 8-12 miles.
If you want to see improvements, 3 runs a week is good, but i would do intervals, tempos/hills and a long run

what's a simple breakdown of these three runs?
Intervals, I do track work. 16 x 400m at 5km pace, 1 minute recovery is a good session, 8 x 800m similar etc. Last week's was 5 x 1 mile at half marathon pace. Aly Dixon sets them for the strollers.

My tempos recently have been aimed at half marathon pace, started with 3 miles, then 4, etc...done 6.2 last week.

Week before it was windy so I done 10 x 1 minute up a hill, jog back down.

All of these sessions have at least a mile warm up and cool down.

My long runs have been building up gradually since the Lakeland 100.

L100.
3.1m
10m
12m
3.1 (boozy weekend)
12m sat 16m sun (double run weekend)
18.25m

That's been my long runs since l100

Excellent, cheers mate

Not been on this thread for ages. Running has come to a standstill with injury, work and life.

Off to Bruges next month to do the half marathon with a bunch of friends and a bunch of beers. Need to get some runs in beforehand and get myself healthy.

Signed up for London marathon again next year. Eek.

do you supplement your running training with weights/bands/core work etc?
I swim a couple times a week and cycle - I do triathlon too. I also do yoga once a week currently, hoping to get back to twice a week but been very busy trying to train for 3 races at once. Going to add a weights session once a week, next month.

I hate missing yoga.

was gonna order this:

Need to take my running more seriously, annoyed at missing vale of york but really need to begin my prep for kielder dark skies next year. Running with 3 others, including someone who has done ultras and don't want to embarrass myself.

Was gonna try do these 3 types of run a week and add some core and kettlebell stuff
