Great North Run

As much as I disagree with you it is what it is nowadays. It's still annoying mind.

I mean that's mental tho.

I do totally understand why people get frustrated by it, but I think you just have to accept it’s not a race. You can take it seriously by all means (and I often do) but accept you will have to bob and weave and get stuck in traffic behind people who shouldn’t be there. There’s loads of other local, cheaper half’s around for chasing a PB.

I just think it’s a shame as every year I know people, of various abilities, who don’t get in who’d really make a go of it and want to run it because of its status and history.

To think they miss out whilst people toddle round via McDonald’s is frustrating. I’d DQ anyone eating fast food during the event :)

I did my 20th on Sunday. I was saying it's probably my last as my back is knackered. I wish they would only take proven times rather than predicted times as people tell lies! I still enjoy it and if I call it a day will miss it. I did 1hr 48 mins on Sunday.

Hopefully the sweeper bus got them.

I've decided it's a cracking day out now like. Probably partly due to my better than expected time but the drinks and that after down the tent is an afternoon well spent narl. I've been converted.

Being further back than I was, I can imagine it being a chore if you just want to run a and get a decent time. Taking ages to start, having to get past everyone but i was on E and it wasnt too bad.

The bairn said she wants to do it next year too, and she hasnt run since school and think she might mean primary. She is going to start at couch to 5k and then aim for the Sunderland 10k. Think I may have inspired her 🤪

I managed to get in zone C thanks to a poster off here unfortunately not being able to do it. Made for a much more enjoyable run. Our lass met me with a bag and some cash (can't believe they didn't do card at the bar ffs) so we were sat down and drinking by 1pm. I'd probably head down next year even if I wasn't running.

You do get the bug like. Was thinking of doing Redcar in a couple of weeks but think it's a home game.

Have next year sorted and think at the moment will stick to 2 hm a year.

Was even thinking of a marathon before I turn 50. But, not sure.
