Great North Run

I done it last year and said I wouldn’t do it again , I started in the white pen and has been already mentioned lots were fecked by the Tyne bridge, I managed 6 miles before I stopped for a wee breather but know I shouldn’t have , my ipod wasn’t charged properly at the start - ‘‘twas dead !!!

I was doing fine , loved the atmosphere, the bands were excellent , the people were superb all the route .
My reason for not doing it was the amount of bottles on the roads, I slipped a couple of times on these and felt a strain , also just getting a bit of pace on and the runner in front would stop and I’d lose the rhythm and end up stopping again.

Can I ask how hot was it yesterday ? I was in Inverness all day and missed all the coverage .
I am thinking about trying to do it next year again tho but as it’s on sept 13th , I won’t get to take in a safc match coz it’s an international weekend again but I’ll still get to see the family. In the meantime , Caithness half is on Sunday , only 70 runners in it , tractors would be the main problem and smell of manure 😄
Pretty much that, people on white and orange buggered by Tyne bridge, bottles, slipping all over. We got stopped twice for ambulances too.

The goody bag at the end had about £30 worth of stuff in, with the tshirt and medal. The thing must cost a fortune to put on, the amount of organisation. All the signs and fencing, free water, road sweepers, tracking chips for the app etc.. its canny enough for what you get. I can see why serious, long experienced runners couldn't be chewed with it all like
And a million quid for Mo to turn up and run.

What's that like? The water disher outers were a god send. Really fancy doing another one in the next few weeks whilst I'm in decent shape
The runners throwing the bottles and not giving a shit where it landed. Bottle just thrown on the ground, bottle tops all over.

It's not that hard to put them to the side of the road.

The people dishing out the water were spot on.

I was at the very front of zone C & there were people from zone B already walking right in front of me as I crossed the start line & I'd already overtaken people with striped bibs from zone A walking within the 1st mile. A combination of 1st timers grossly underestimating how long it will take them & people who should be near the front flogging their number to the highest bidder.

They should start requiring proof of ability for the first 4 zones instead of estimated times then check the finishing photos for anyone from those zones who doesn't finish in a reasonable time.

I ran most of the race down the left side, never really wandered into the middle

A few years ago, I was running the Manchester marathon when some stupid twat chucked a bottle of water without looking and it smacked a toddler off the head when he was in the pram. The wanker didn’t even stop

Redcar half marathon...

nice one might sign up for that if the swelling in my knees dies down over the next couple of days. in all my training i never had a single problem with my knees, can barely walk today. calves and hammies and everything else is perfectly fine
