4th Ashes Test - Old Trafford

Odds before the start of play on the 5th day of the 3rd test (Headingly)
England 2/1
Australia 1/2
Draw 630/1

Odds before the start of play of the 5th day of the 4th test (Manchester)
Australia 1/4
Draw 4/1
England 55/1

So going by the bookies this will be a bigger escape than Headingly if they pull it off.
 
Morning team. so day 5 then.

Just taken Rufus T Dog round the block to do his business here in M21, and it's already bright and sunny. So no help from the weather and 98 overs to survive. Probably no chance but we live in hope.....

As for the trams, there are no trams running from the city centre, replacement buses running from all City Centre stops and you will need a valid Metrolink ticket to board. If you're coming into the city from the west yon the Altrincham, Chorlton or Airport lines you are fine.

This pitch is nowhere near as good as Headingly’s. I predict we’ll be all out for less than 150 round about 3.30 this afternoon

I've got my Son's football up in Northumberland at 1130 today, be back about 1330 and am expecting the fat lady to be warming up her vocals by then
Hope to fuck I'm wrong but this is one miracle escape top far for this team

Early wicket for Cummins or Hazlewood. Possibly in 1st over (Roy most likely)
Stokes will battle for a hard earned 30 but will go just before lunch and the collapse will start
Lyon to have the last laugh and take 3 wickets in an over and end it

Look at some of the snorters they bowled yesterday evening, they are getting plenty out of the new ball. If by some miracle we survive through to the afternoon, we'll need plenty in the hutch for the second new ball coming just after tea.

Reckon probably 3 down tops at lunch if we are to have a chance, and that's a million miles away.

Other than Stokes, we don't look like we have anyone capable of batting more than a session. What I would give for Atherton and Cook (2010 version) to be walking out this morning and digging in for our lives...... Maybe with Trott and Colly to follow

Wouldn’t even chase the score just rotate strike now and then leave the fishing balls protect your stumps and block the fuck out of Lyon force mistakes and frustration. Go for the draw don’t do nowt daft.

We can, but I don't think we will. Australia are simply better and smarter than us. The Third Test presented a miracle, but the Aussies knew that Stokes' astounding innings merely obscured the realities of the situation (and then temporarily). I think this will done by tea-time.
