Get ready for Sunday...

Start carbo loading today... Don't binge just up your carbo intake as of now... Have a small cup of water once an hour if your wee is clear you are fully hydrated..don't run Saturday go for a short walk... Hope you all have a wonderful day Sunday... Enjoy the aches on Monday you earned them... Good luck to you all
Got any decent examples of what sort of intake I should be doing?

don't pig out on carbo just up your intake.. I don't eat meat 4 days before an event but I replace it with pasta rice potato... porridge jam and banana is the best pre race breakfast but eat it 4 hours before race start.. drink water on race morning regulary.. once your wee is crystal clear you are fully hydrated... good luck

Do you not then run the risk of needing to piss the whole race?

I tend to piddle every hour or so when I do my long slow plods but it’s usually cross country so there are plenty of trees to aim at.
This is from alydixon.com re: her race day marathon preparation.

A 2pm start time was totally different to what I’m usually used to for a marathon but food etc was adjusted accordingly. I’d decided it would be best to split my breakfast so that I didn’t over eat but also didn’t leave myself hungry waiting until 10.30 to eat breakfast. I saw Alex the physio to get my stiff ankle mobilised at 8am then headed down for some banana on toast and a coffee at 8.30 before having my Porridge and another coffee at 10.30.

Chichester cross country half starts at 0900 breakie at 04ish... In pub by 11 30.. Best event down south... And a massive climb up the trundle at lavant... Usually take mon n tues off after that race..after cos I'm knackered

The half marathons that I’ve ran have all started at 10:30, time for breakfast and finish before it gets too hot.

I’d have thought that marathons would start about an hour earlier.

Have you ever ran a cross country marathon? I am aiming to run one next year.

yes South Downs marathon.. It's a bit longer 28.77 because of the hills.. But it's so well organised its tough but you get beer in the goody bag..

I would personally ignore all the advice given, eating 5 hours before a race? I'll be chewing my arm off. Best thing to do is to practice in training.
