Working late

Work one week of 12-9 then 9-6. Hate finishing at 9, especially as no public transport links so hours of walk back home. Hate hanging around in the morning as well, waiting to start

Do 8 hours at work 9-5ish, then at the minute I've got a couple of things on so I'll work from 8 until about 11 or 12 at home. Doesn't always help with getting to kip.

Work 08:00 til 16:30. Sometimes need to drop in a few extra hours for a job but only if there is overtime in it
To be honest, I'd much rather be at home
Some of the younguns at work are overtime addicts like. Fair enough, let them do it :)

Used to do plenty of long hours.
I've done the seven twelve hour shifts...eight till eight. I did that for over a year.
I've done plenty of double shifts in my time, as well. The money I was on was garbage and the extra hours made it look like I was earning good money.
The things you have to do.

In my experience people never get noticed for starting early, only finishing late. A Few places I have worked this has been the case. One lad would work to 7pm every night when everyone else would leave between 4 and 5. The manager would say “people should take a leaf out of his book”?????? Only he wouldn’t turn up on a morning until 10 ??? Which is fine as he has worked his hours, but others would turn up at 7am and work till 4:00 and it would be frowned upon?

Politics of working in an office I suppose.

This ^

I always regularly submit some work (which triggers emails to the team) or find an excuse to email the boss very early in the morning, to give the impression I've already done 2-3 hours work before they get in.

Yes I do it, I’m part owner but I’ve always done it, part of our industry which is deadline driven. Get paid for 38 hours, usually do about 45-50, at peak times if I go in on a weekend like Saturday it’s above 60. I don’t get paid extra apart from the chance of higher dividend.

My first call is at 0700 (so leave home about 0630) then work through until around 1530.

A few hours break and then the evening run starts at 1815 through to the last visit which ends at 2200, but can often run over.

I get three days off each fortnight. Split shifts are an absolute killer. I usually spend my afternoon break sleeping.

Last time i did long hours was in Boro. Started at 7am left at 6pm. Plus 45 minutes drive there and same back. Was a long day. Hard graft too. Did that for a year. That was about 6 months before i retired. As said by @Nukehasslefan , money was poor but made to look reasonable because i worked so many hours. Sat morning too when we didn't have a home game.
