If scratters want to bet away their dollar, let them. Nanny state shite that belongs to Corbyn and his crew.

Unfortunately mate what a lot of people, perhaps such as yourself fail to recognise is that sooner or later, these people end up costing the public purse.

A gambling addict who ends up having his family’s home repossessed means the council spends your tax rehoming them.

The alcoholic who ends up losing his job ends up on the dole, meaning the DWP spends your tax on his benefits.

The heroin addict who ends up overdosing has an ambulance called out, taken to hospital, kept in for two days and is released back to his hostel - meaning the NHS is spending your tax on his healthcare.

Spend now and prevent more spending in the future. You can spin that as the nanny state, or you can spin that as prudent spending of your tax.

I think they'll be in much more common use in ten years. Certainly less harmful than coke or tabs
There were a few tests on LSD in the past we've all seen the video of the soldiers tripping. Psycho active drugs can change a persons perception on a huge level. Its just a mushroom.

Smoking. Stopped for 6 month but then my vape broke so started again. Going to attempt to stop again on Monday. Ordered my vape today.

Gambling is another one, not as bad as I used to be, but still have a bet on 90% of days.

Food and drink. I'm a fat bastard. I go through phases of having the same food. For example last 5 month I've had cheese and broccoli pasta on probably around 3 nights a week. Working nights permanently means I have 1 red bull a day guaranteed. Working on this in the coming weeks once I've conquered quiting smoking.

sciatica and back pain
Yeah I know what you mean marra it knacks doesn't it. I went through the taking loads of anti inflammatory medicine but moved on to a tens machine and ibuprofen gel rub along side the medication.

Struggled with addiction to amphetamines in the past and also alcohol, took a lot to knock the first lot on the head but did it, and mostly have the second under control bar the odd time. Admitting the problem with drink only came recently and, unsurprisingly, it's been much harder to kick than the amphetamines because it's so socially accepted. Can't whack a gram of whizz with me Dad for starters.

If anyone thinks folk with addictions are simply "weak" then they're wrong.

Well done on admitting the problem man, I wish you luck in breaking free of it.
Some people are more prone to addiction than others. Has nothing to do with weakness. Addicts are not weak, but under control of the influence of something that their brain has made them believe that it is bigger than them. No different from those who suffer from OCD. It is not simply a manner of "being strong". Addiction is a truly debilitating disease. But it is that, a disease.

I wish only the best for those who have to deal with addiction. It takes professional help to get better.

Drug addicts are blind marra they can still see but they can only really see when they take control of the addictions, I don't think people are weak but yes in a sense if you class weak as blindfolded.

There are some addictions which occur by poor fortune, eg people given opioids for genuine pain - post surgery or whatever - and find themselves in the grip of subsequent addiction.
But anyone taking up certain crap like smoking - tabs or crack - in the full knowledge of what it does to their health and how it affects those around them, has an absence of will, or a weakness of mind, in that they failed to make an adult decision to pass it up. So at this moment I stand by my occasionally vacillating affirmation that certain people become addicts due to misfortune, others due to weakness.

But being strong minded takes up so much energy being weak minded and getting high is a good cop out.

Thankfully haven't suffered from addiction.

I'd class social media as a new kind of addiction for some people, wrecks their mental health and perception of reality, and they live their lives through it.

Good luck to anyone fighting an addiction, I hope you can pull through.
