As has already been said, would you Chuck money at something you don't own.
Bit like buying a tumbledown house you wouldn't start doing it up until you took ownership completely.
So if you and I were on the verge of exchanging contracts for a house I owned and I discovered that serious work needed doing to it . Would I not contact you and ask whether you wished this work to be done? We are talking about sums of a million pounds or less which these investors probably have in loose change.

so you are saying our natural level is league one. that's fine but I am not ready to accept that.
Nahh ya whopper, where have i said that? I haven't and I haven't even implied it. If you can't grasp the basics of being honest during what will be a monumental deal in the clubs history you're lacking a huge amount on the perception stakes . I'll spell it out for you if we go ahead and sign players we haven't budgeted for its very likely the deal will collapse. If you take into consideration Stewart and Charlie will still be running things for the new investors once the deal is complete it makes it even more imperative that they are upfront and honest. Or we could just sign Maddison for £2.5 million (when we could get him for nowt next season) and fuck the whole deal up.

They think long-term. If we spend, it will be January. If what @Reiver says is accurate, they'll change managers before changing the squad if they think it's just down to them underperforming.
Makes sense. If we get a decent manager, Im hoping he can keep us at the right end of the table until the Jan transfer window opens.

But if they’re coming in and planning on changing the manager and recruitment setup then they won’t want to sign players yet.

Then there’s the fact that signing a boatload of players on deadline day rarely makes for a good team.
Like I said at the start, I’m not talking about wholesale changes at huge amounts. It just seems strange that we are reluctant to spend anything at all when the consequences are that the club remains floundering in league 1

Precisely, you want to get in have a proper look around and form a complete plan with a budget. you wouldn’t give the old owners 10 grand to tart the place up only to find out they gave it to a robbing cowboy to install shite kitchen.

I find the lack of signings a positive

Nothing is done until the ink is dry on the paper. That said, this sounds like it's "all but done" barring any last minute disasters.

If you ask me for a match ticket and I say I'll sort you one ... that's a done deal and we both know it.

That's before I've seen you, handed over the ticket and taken the cash. I still have one lad who owes me for the play off final but I know he's good for it.

If people want to continually pick tiny holes in the terminology it makes me wonder how their minds work tbh.

I've seen a WhatsApp from one of the buyers thanking a friend who congratulated him for buying Sunderland.

If people don't believe me don't ever ask for help with a ticket

However you would tell the potential new owners that a fuck off whole had appeared in the roof and ask them if they wanted it fixed.

Having seen some of our buys the new people wouldn't give them a penny if they have any sense ...
... which they obviously do.

If any potential management team they bring in is half decent we will be purring.

SAFC owners are frequently let down by those paid to bring success, it's good management that is lacking, not brass. (both would be nice like).

Not if the new owners were going to tear the whole place down and start from scratch I wouldn’t.
Fair point and one which I will accept. The only point I have is that we are potentially wasting a whole season by doing nothing now. Those saying that we will sort everything out in January, does Fair play rules not apply in that transfer window.?

If they don't back Jackie he'll know the score and thus put us in a downward spiral by chrimbo....
