3rd Ashes Test - Headingley

Root and Bayliss have presided over some of the worst test performances in our history. The test side needs wholesale changes but the ECB's focus on money making T20 and 100 ball cricket has left the county game scarce of capable 4 day players.

Root has to go as captain
Roy, Denly, Buttler and Bairstow should be dropped

It's time to show some balls and make changes, because the current lot are anything but ballsy.

Team for Old Trafford

Burns
Sibley
Hildreth
Root
Pope
Stokes
Foakes
Archer
Broad
Anderson
Leach

Roy, Denly, Bairstow and Buttler don’t deserve to be in the side

Burns has done enough to stay
Root is in dreadful form but still has class. Change the captain to Stokes or Broad or Jimmy
Bowlers have been fine. Woakes unlucky to lose out to Jimmy

Malan at three personally, but fine by me.

Whilst the temptation to overeact is strong I wouldn't make that many changes but I WOULD change the batting order

Burns, Sibley, Stokes, Root (c), Roy, Pope, Foakes (w), Archer, Broad, Anderson, Leach

Buttler isn't a test player and Bairstow needs to go back and find some form
Woakes is 4th choice seamer now so loses out as Jimmy is back. Leach stays in by default and Roy gets a chance lower down the order
Stokes in a 3 for now as he appears to be the only one with the technique

Slightly unsure on Hildreth now but that's how I'd go too.

you cant blame the bowlers

I know, I'm doing the opposite, in highlighting our batsmen are so shit (told ya) that changing a captain will no real impact. Which is why I said if people think that will make such a big difference it must be because they think we can bowl sides out even more cheaply with a different leader.

This England side is gutless when they are under pressure - none of them prepared to battle for runs or wickets.
Australia will be 250+ ahead at the close

When you see the guts displayed by Labuschagne yesterday, standing up to Archer and Broad, getting battered but still getting runs through grit and determination - our lot should be ashamed of themselves and Root needs to come out and say it, rather than fluff about with excuses.

next test shake the full thing up:

Sibley
Burns
????
Root
Pope
Stokes
Foakes
Broad
Archer
Leach
Anderson

They don't give a fuck about test matches any more. Just look at next summer's schedule - 6 tests, 6 odi, 6 t20. Do we not play 7 tests in a summer any more?

It's not that much of a change going from 7 to 6. It's not as if we are sacking off tests for the summer to concentrate on white ball cricket like we did a couple of winters ago
