Doesn't look far off, but I wouldn't have Moeen back, at any price.
I would never have stokes that high.
Roy must go.
Buttler needs to play county cricket, he isn't playing red ball cricket so how can he be captain?

I'd restore the middle of and patch the top order. In other words try to fix what's wrong.

stoke is well capable of batting ag number 3, roy, root and denly aren't. Roy and root may be more secure towards the middle of the order. Bairstow and Buttler fighting it out for wicket keeper and I think Buttler might make a good captain...

Whether this is the team for the next test or not. This would probably be my team going forward for the next year barring injuries:

Burns
Sibley
Root
Pope
Stokes (c)
Foakes (wk)
Ali
Curran
Archer
Broad
Anderson

Take the captaincy off Joe and give it to Ben (there's no one else).
Hopefully concentrating his mind to play more mature innings more consistently. Ease his workload as a bowler to no more than 3-4 over bursts as a partnership-breaker.
Joe can focus on his batting and get back to averaging over 50.

What the fuck is going on with 3/4/5 like?

stokes is well capable of batting 3. root needs moving further back and relieving of the captaincy so 4 or 5. It might be worth persisting with Roy as a middle order batsman but I'm not that precious about it. It may be a good move to drop him and bring him back for the white ball game.

There is sometimes a perverse joy in England being shit, isn't there?
Anticipating Bob passing judgment always brings a smile, even while collapsing to defeat!

He is like the Darth Vader of cricket  I love it!
