3rd Ashes Test - Headingley

Boycott nails it for me:

Joe Root might just be in a poor trot, that happens. But he has to start winning Tests against Australia, he's had seven goes and hasn't managed one yet.

He won't get a better day to bowl yesterday and a better day to bat today - he has to win this Test. If he can't win this then he may as well give up the job.

Their best batsman isn't playing, you couldn't ask for anything more. Root has had moments as captain when you think 'what the hell is going on here?'

Australia were 120-2 on a juicy pitch last night and we still had four slips. You had to stop the flow of runs. He hasn't grasped the nuances of the game.

Root’s time is up. He’s only still in a job because of Archer. The way he over bowled him at Lords was amateurish. He’s not captain material.

Big rethink needed for the Test team, a total change in attitude. Bin Roy, Buttler, Denly, Bairstow and look at younger alternatives who are not obsessed by T20/50 overs. Anyone who can actually bat time ffs.

if you want a really good bet....sri lanka test, draw is 1.6 and the second day has been washed out with thunder storms forecast next 3 days and lankas still on their first innings

to be fair we could keep positively minded players if the mooted 4 day tests come into force

like I said earlier...do we need a completely different top order for test cricket

there must be county players who are not flash or quick scorers but who can bat all day, but because they are not grabbing the headlines they dont get a look in

clearly you can win the one day world cup but you cant bat in a test match.
