3rd Ashes Test - Headingley

Roy simply hasn't got the mentality for test match opening, he's not learning from what is patently obvious.

I'm honestly not sure what made them think he would have though.

Feel a bit sorry for him if I'm honest - you wouldn't open with Stokes, Buttler or Bairstow, but their positions are probably where you'd be looking to slot him in (if anywhere)

Would still stick with Roy personally, due to his natural talent I would give him 10 tests to develop his game.
He could become our Warner, if he's still nicking wide ones next year then give up.

49 runs in 5 innings is not good enough. Even if he'd made a couple of scratchy 20 or 30odds you might have a point, but he hasn't.

That's a jaffa mind.

Our opening has been shite for 2 or 3 years now, what's another 6 months?
Also throwing Vince or similar in there won't fix things.

I don't think that's quite the point, there is two young batsmen in county cricket in Sibley and Crawley who have shown they can bat time and go big. If we are going on the basis that the rest were shite then we either keep Roy when it's clearly not working, or recall someone else who has failed.

Give them 5 innings to succeed in this series and they will more than likely fail too.
