Maddison (no it's not a transfer)

ROKER PARK

Central Defender
See he's started off with two assist in last night's match. One from the left, the second from the right, both inch perfect pass. I know we are not supposed to be interested in him but he does look the real deal in this league.

Expensive at his value and questions on his attitude.

Surely we can get better for cheaper from a foreign market, when you look at the success of the likes of Said Benrahma and Buendia in the league above

The thing is that he is proven at this level and his stats over last season are impressive.

Plenty of players can fit well in a system for one team but not for another. He seems to have free reign over their attacking play, whereas McGeady and Maguire do here. It’s should be about correctly scouting and identifying the players that could fit well within the team and the players, not who has done well elsewhere. Shown by Grigg who I do feel wants to do well here as he has at Wigan but may not fit the style.

Would be a big gamble but there is always a chance he might wise-up, maybe he will being back home? His ability outweighs it...risk worth taking imo. At least you exactly what you are getting!

£2.5m buy out clause!

Fuck off man, it’s easy to say spend that money and take a gamble when you’re not the owner of a club that are trying to balance the books!

Two fantastic passes. I know he's expensive for this league and there's question marks over his attitude but he really would give us that extra bit of quality in the final third that we're lacking.

I don't deny Grigg has under performed but Maddison has started off on the same vane as last year. He shows attacking intent and can certainly make a telling pass.
No matter who we get there are no guarantees. Just watch the EFL highlights and see what he provides.

I don't disagree that's he's decent. If Ross wants him, and he's available for less than 2.5m I wouldn't be against signing him.

It's just the assumption that's often implied that because any player provides X goals or Y assists in one team, he'll do similar at another club. It just ain't that simple. And Grigg is the most obvious recent counter-example.

Right now, I'm more concerned about getting a quality (for L1) Left Back.
