If true, happy with that from a Pompey perspective. Wyke and McNulty are your best choice as a striking partnership on current form, but we've got a tall team so shouldn't be bullied by long balls up to Wyke and I'm not convinced by your distribution from defence.

Assuming McGeady is on the left flank, we can double up on him without worrying about a left footer on the overlap, as McLaughlin would prefer to cut back before crossing. Harness should enjoy trying to get past McLaughlin on the touchline, and he's a decent right footed crosser.

Also presumably means 2 midfielders against our three, which should allow is to get Cannon and Close forward to press your midfield pair closer to your defence which, if you continue playing the high defensive line you used last year, should increase our chances of through balls and isolate your attacking players.

Look at Mike Bassett here

Has anyone produced one of those heat maps showing players positioning during the game ? I'd like to see ones for Flanagan and Hume as they should show a huge space between them.
You are right. I'd personally like to never see Flanagan in a Sunderland top again, and Hume who knows. He my come good and go for an absolute fortune. He has many of the attributes needed. Then again he may just fade away. Either way I'd rather neither were playing at the moment.

A right back at left back ffs.

McLaughlin looks really uncomfortable on his left foot too so feel abit sorry for him. He’ll be hoyed under bus if we lose.

Six posts in and you see exactly why Ross says, "Damned if you do, damned if you don't."
That’s at every club though surely? You will always have one fan with a different opinion to another. This isn’t a Sunderland thing like Ross implied.

You're right about our other players, but you won't have enough players on the pitch to stop Mcgeady if he's up for it and fit. He's the best player in that league by a country mile.

McLaughlin
O’Nien ozturk Willis Mcalaughlin
Power leadbitter
Gooch McNulty mcgeady
Wyke.
That was picked yesterday, so unless anybody has picked up a knock.
Mcgeough having fitness test this morning but haven’t heard anything different

Ozturk in for Flanagan today too, glad about that, at least he gets stuck in
Good on ya, lad. I was about to say it's all for nowt if Flanagan starts.
It's why I theorised in close season 5 in defence will be a write-off when it guarantees him a start.

Downside is Ross had all summer and last season + Oz's improved form at the end of last to make the right call, but couldn't.
