2ND ASHES TEST: LORDS

The chefs need to have pre undercooked bait put aside for Smith.
Would like to see Broad try that to him, as you say, make him play it back from where it came rather than helping it on its way. Pack the legside and bowl it on middle and leg.

Trying anything is better than nothing!

Root suggested last test they tried too hard and tried to over think it against Smith. Perhaps just starving him is the way forward, with forcing him to go after something or leaving him stranded.

He can't bowl left handed surely?

He always bowls left-arm orthodox to warm-up. It's a suspicion of his. Left-arm orthodox and a bit of football.

They did some neuro-psychological tests on them all and he's got some weird 'dopamine' thing going on (Stokes has it too apparently) which means they can switch on competition mode straight away. So they just let him warm-up however he wants. Which turns out to be this way.

Not making this up.

Apparently, Stokes has seen him bowl left-arm fast in the nets too.

I mean this is pretty obvious to me like. The problem with Smith is not that he just shores up the batting and helps create partnerships but against England at least he also posts massive match winning totals routinely.

He can stay there all day for me so long as he isn’t hitting the hundreds he averages against us. A streaky 57 not out and batting all day isn’t an issue.

Think he probably brings his own packed lunch, the bastard. Leaves nothing to chance.

Very interesting, thank you.

just put the stream on to Nasser interview the cheat, is it raining much or does it look like we'll be getting some play soon?

They have just said it’s light but the covers are on but I think some other umpires would allow play for a bit.

The covers looked quite wet , must have got heavier during lunch
Got a pal there who says think they should play but then again he had went down from Sunderland so probably wants to see more.

Taking the bairn down tomorrow looksba much better day.

Problem you have is it takes an hour to get ready to play after rain, it hasn't actually stopped raining so it will be tough to do

That was yesterday when the outfield was saturated. Today there won’t be much outfield work to do so won’t take near that to get it ready
