Todays random thought after watching Archer bowling left handed warming up

Do you think we will ever see a ambidextrous cricketer whether with bat or ball?

They are probably already out there to be honest. Broad bats left handed but bowls right arm, Archer can bowl left arm fast and slow spin. KP showed with his reverse hit that he seemed fairly comfortable on that side. Zaheer Khan was ambidextrous too iirc, Clarke bowled left arm spin for Aussies.

Just never see people use it really in the way the way that say ronnie osullivan does

Be class watching someome decide theyre struggling right handed so bat left handed for a bit to see if that helps

I suppose it's because you practice and hone your technique using either one or the other. I know it could potentially work both ways but it would probably really disrupt your rhythm.

Interesting point by Nasser, should Bairstow bat further up and give the gloves to Buttler? I know he's likely to sulk a bit if he loses them but surely selectors/Root/Bayliss and the senior pros like Broad, Anderson and Stokes should be having a word and telling him to do what is best for the team.

Hes a proper entitled bellend so id imagine the dummy will come right out

Drop denly, put bairstow 4, Buttler 7 and give roy a go 5 or 6.

If bairstow doesnt like it fuck.him. That batting line up is all.over the.place. Only problem is who opens with burns

Both are clinging on to their places, Bairstow has a stay of execution after his first innings 50 but Buttler should be in last chance saloon should he not make any runs in the remainder of this match and the next. In which case Foakes should come in, Bairstow moves up to 6, Stokes to 5 and if Bairstow sulks about not keeping then he can fuck off back to Yorkshire and his test career should be ended.

Bairstow is a good number 7 though, better than Buttler there. I was a bit surprised they abandoned the Bairstow at 3 experiment mind. He only played a couple of games there and he scored a century in one of them but he ended up back at 7 where I think he'll stay. Buttler really doesn't do enough to justify his place in the side at the moment

Looks like a lot of rain about today, be shocked if this game ends in anything other than a draw
TMS says few spots of rain and very dark , Australia won't want to bat in this

He is but he's a better number 5 or even 6 than Buttler who should be batting at 7 as that's the position that suits his mentality/style best imo. It could be a case of if Buttler doesn't make a score in his next couple of innings then he's out anyway in which case I'd imagine Bairstow will be ordered to move up to 5 or 6 and Curran(?) coming in. I'd still like to see Denley open with Burns, Root at 3, Roy at 4, Bairstow at 5 and Stokes at 6.

A lot could hinge on how the first hour and half goes today. Get a few wickets and we might see a result one way or another. Draw looks the most likely at the moment though.
