Post a pic of your axe

My Harley Benton SC custom vintage black is an absolutely awesome guitar straight out of the box as they come with Grover tuners alnico splitting humbuckers. Only thing I changed was the nut and it's class.. how can they do a set neck mahogany guitar with quality parts even down to the strap locks for £170 deliver to my house!

Agree on the *-Custom (SC and DC) - both a bit of a step up over the usual models. SC-550 is in Epiphone plus top ball park, and £200 quid less.

My SC-450 B Stock (with £30 vanson 59 pups) is better than my 90's Samick Epi Les Paul. Won't take as much a beating tho with the basswood body.
Some are much better quality than Squire/epiphone. They are a budget guitars but some are amazing for the money.

This.

It's variable mind you, but a TE-30 at sub £100 is way better value new .. than a squier affinity tele IMO. Resale - certainly ebay wise *if* you are prepared to ship, isn't half bad either.

They are never gonna hold value but when they discontinue the likes of the SC line I can see the second hand market going up for them. I've been looking at the HB Fusion 2 and for sub £400 it's an amazing deal!

B stock can be had for a lot less ... Fusion is a cracking deal, especially with the roasted maple boards which are stunning. Not my kind of guitar tho TBH... I got a shine with a floyd rose for £50 recently which is similar... still working on it as to avoid buzz on 12-15 frets, the action has to be insane level high.. playing with shims currently but worst case I'll extract the floyd rose and bin it. If I get it sorted I'll probably move it on anyway.

P90 is nie on the final guitar on the list, also have a te-20 (candy apple / maple neck) on pre-order ... pic of blue version below which for £70ish personally I think looks realllllly sweet.

If the Red is any good I'll get the blue as sell my Lake Placid MiM Maple fretboard tele and Squier Bullet Placid.

Im thinking of a semi hollow guitar and leaning towards the Epi Sheraton in wine red - whats people thoughts I'm on a under 800 budget so the dream 335 is well out of reach

Sheratons are great imo. Funny you've posted this because I've been considering getting one these last few weeks

Just pushed the button on the P90 version of that .... always wanted a P90 and the Roswells sound decent on the YouTube clips.

Sheraton is good, I was even more under that budget so I have one of these: Harley Benton HB-35Plus Cherry

Steal at that price.
I've got the same model, good guitar, Also got the HB TE 80, which is another fine guitar, can't whack the HB's for value.
Been on most of the day setting up my Fender Jazz, and I'm well happy with it, chuffed in fact, I reckon it's the best it's been for a while now, so a canny day..

Ive always found the sheratons too heavy and bulky, headstock like a cricket bat , if you get a s/h korean epiphone dot (£230 flea bay ),and put a decent set of pick ups in ,oil city, irongear ,creamery (you needn't go to the bare knuckle or bulldog prices) you will have a cracking guitar , £50 for a new pre wired loom ,but put a day aside to swap it over !

Yes one of my mates recommended buying a dot and then stick some Gibson pickups in it - any idea what sort of pickups would be best as its not my area of expertise!

Irongear over Gibson, save yourself some cash. Blues Engine & Dirty Torque. Or if you want a Slash type sound - TeSLA SHarks)

IronGear Pickups - Humbuckers - loads of sound samples on there for you to listen too.

I've got Irongears in a few of mine now (Blues Engine / Dirty Torque Humbuckers, Texas Locos in one of the strats) - rate them very highly, and I've not seen a bad reviewfrom anyones who's put them into something. Way, Way, Way better value then paying for the Gibson name.

Side note: I see a few recommending the Irongears on here - has anyone tried the Alchemist P90 ?

My SC-Custom P90 just arrived - it is some guitar .... really light, B stock but barring minor binding marks its perfect. Way Way Way above the SC-450.
