Lots of players can fire it down at 90+ for 4 over spells in ODI's but can't maintain that bowling 20+ overs in a day. Like you say though his action seems effortless so will be interesting to watch his speeds this series. I think he will come into his own though when we go over to Australia, if we could nurse Wood to fitness them 2 could finally give us some genuine pace threat out there.

agree, will, he be able to maintain it, hopefully he does. looking forward to seeing him though
and mark wood would compliment him perfectly ! but he's made of plasticine sadly, again though, look at how he strains EVERY sine to bowl over 90 mph, and look what effect it has on injuries, this is why I don't think you see many super fast bowlers these days, it just takes SO much out of your body

that's the one thing this auz line up lacks for me, genuine pace. none of them really rack up over 90 mph balls, which the last few auz teams have had at their disposal. it makes a MASSIVE difference

Johnson was crap in England and played 3 series here

In Aus aye. This attack is an excellent attack, lyon is the best spinner in the world. Proved it in all conditions.

Cummins averages 21(got to his 100th wicket in 21 fastest aussie seamer) Hazlewood averages 26

Nice sequel to "f***ing hell, how do you conclude Australia are ahead in this test" as they cruised past our first innings lead at Edgbaston with Smith at the crease.

Sorry but we are badly underprepared on the batting front, it's going to take something amazing from someone to turn this around.

And I can see a few draws with it being so late in the season

Cummins is a great bowler and Hazlewood is perfectly suited for English conditions. Amazed he was left out of the first test.
 
Someone dig their heels in and stay with Bairstow here. Need another 60 or 70 to be vaguely competitive here,

Yeah agreed, 275 needed... if we somehow could get to 300 that would be a big psychological victory from positon we were in, much like Aus in 1st test.
 
If Archer, Broad and Leach can stick around (which they're all capable of) with JB then we should realistically be aiming for 320ish.

They seem to be better at digging in. When they really need to just stand tall and really weather the storm they can. We just collapse.
