Corfu

We’re off to san stefanos in a couple of weeks. Visited a few times but never stayed there, love the beach and general relaxed vibe tho.
Stayed in Arillas a few years back and loved it, also Paleokastritsa before that, will revisit this time round to see if they’ve changed.

Where you staying? Book up early at Barras on Sunday night for Greek night it's fantastic. And I think it's Saturday for Manthos' BBQ you can't miss either

Been going for over 30 years. Lived there for awhile. We always stay with Nondas up the hill behind the Little Prince Hotel. I remember the Thomas Bay getting built LOL....
Haven't been this year, been helping our son out financially, but stay in regular contact with friends out there.

My mam and dad first went the year before I was born so 38 years, it's changed a lot even in the last 10 years. Is Nondas right at the top of the hill? The first people we met last year were from fulwell but had been there from April and were stopping till October.

The wife's bite count was up to three figures by the time our stint came to an end
I'd like this but I can't. Poor Mrs H.

I was in Naxos many moons ago and got badly bitten then but had forgotten how bad the mossies were until after I had booked to go to Corfu. At least I can go well prepared.

I have citronella and baby lotion, suggested on here. DEET, which is horrible to use but effective. A plastic Mossie wristband, likely useless. I have some wipes, not sure how effective. Eurax for bite relief. Cotton trousers, long sleeve blouses. Sox.

So much for dresses, bare legs and perfume then!

Have u tried the Avon skin so soft body lotion? That's meant to be really god against any kind of bites. My mam gets chewed to bits in Corfu but I' don't get them at all.

Mosquito milk roll on has deet but doesn’t have the awful breath catching smell that the spray has
Citronella candles also will keep them away from your balcony or patio and the plug in with the tablets help keep them out of your room
Use the air conditioning especially when you’re getting ready to go out for the evening .

Never seen her as bad. She took everything recommended even starting a few weeks before on garlic pills. Even I got about 15 having never fell pray before

I find the vest prevention is to wear only slightly more mosquito repellent then my wife.

Nondas is just below the Tsaros Pool and Apts. Nice quiet location away from the hussle and bussle of the main centre. We have often just had food delivered and sat on the balcony all evening. He used to have a very popular bistro, Elpithas, which was run by his sons but they have since moved on. One to Germany and the other to Corfu Town.

Before you go out for the evening close all windows and doors and give your room a good spray. That way you won't get bothered during the night.

What do you spray the room with? The same can of deet that you use on your skin, (which wouldn't be very effective as it is non-aerosol) or are there special products (room spray) that you can buy?

Edit: I've just looked , I guess you just mean a normal insect repellent room spray. I'll buy one there then.

Just the normal spray you get in the local supermarkets. I think it's called RAID.

We’re in Sugar and Almond, cheers for the recommendation, will check them out.

Not seeing either of those two on trip advisor.

I’m in Arillas now, absolutely stunning place just south west of Sidari. The locals in the village have set up a recycling centre in an abandoned building just outside the resort, the place is immaculate. Would recommend it to anyone. Went to Sidari when I was younger and enjoyed it, but went for a drive out earlier in the holiday and it’s looking a bit bleak now.
