Sunderland "travellers"?

Why are you lot absolutely shit scared of confronting them then? In general terms. They seem to get away with far more than the general population.

I reckon a roll around with a gypsy encampment should be part of basic training.
You have seen ‘Snatch’ Kev haven’t you aye???

Easier to catch speeding motorists and watch the general public via CCTV than actually investigate known criminals.

All about crime numbers and now they have police commissioners looking for re-election they have to hit those easy win targets

Pikeys are way to much trouble for the police to bother with, that's why they give them a wide berth.

I have never experienced them getting away with stuff more than the general population.

Dealing with them can be very resource intensive, but from my experience it has never stopped us doing it. On one of my old units it seemed like we were on travellers sites every other day, a job needed doing there so it would get done. Been some interesting moments doing them.

Decent idea about basic training though.
Easier to sit with a speed camera, zero confrontation, but feeds their ego.

Real travellers would never live in a council house. The only way this lot can class themselves as travellers is the get the bus to the dole to sign on. To much watching king of gypsies and big fat gypsy wedding is what brough this lot out. Real travellers want nothing to do with them, cant be a traveller if your static in a council house.
That's what I was thinking mate, they jump on the wagon because its fashionable, gypseys were in vogue because of television, suddenly everyones a wannabee-do-as-you-likee sunderland didn't have a huge traveller tradition, now people think a piebald 'Orse a trotting cart and a keeper ring with a bit of dordi-dordi chavvy lingo makes them paddy dochertys cousin, even though they live in pallion or Castletown.

Police are shit frightened of them.
Lots of real travellers local, lots.I saw a fight on the Feltham Cineworld complex, its maybe a mile away from where a traveller who featured on one of the traveller type programs has his yard.Fight involving gypsy boys, copper car parked just off the complex while the fight was ongoing,he stayed there for maybe 7 or 8 minutes till another car arrived then they both drove onto the complex.

Years ago, when I lived in London, a pikey family were kicked out of an house they were renting down our street, the night after, I was closing the downstairs windows before going to bed, when I noticed the Pikey bloke trying to break in to the house, by forcing the front window, I phoned the police, the station being about a quarter of a mile away, explained what was going on, and if they sent someone down, they'd catch him in the act, two hours later after the whole pikey family were now back in the house, along came a police car with two fat arses in, they slowed down, took a look, you could see the pikeys moving around (all the lights were on) through front window, then they drove off, never to be seen again, it took the bloke that owned the house another five months to get the dirty vermin out. well done the Met..

That would be a landlord and tenant dispute, civil law as opposed to criminal law.

If you are going to bring up stories at least make them relevant.

Dont let the facts get in the way of police shithousery.
Just checked and you can be arrested, but it's unlikely if you can prove you're the house owner, however,I fail to see how, once someone has been evicted by a bailiff, that if he attempts to break into that property it's not a criminal offence, that doesn't make sense.
