Honeyman to Hull?

Ok, so you watch him play, alongside thousands of others, but what is it specifically about his play that you feel brings nothing to the table?

His reading of the game is awful, he's often slow to react when the ball breaks because he's a few yards away or moving in the wrong direction(except for in the box where he does have a knack of turning up at the right time tbf)

He takes poor angles when moving to close people down which allows players to stream past him and he's not athletic enough to catch up

He makes poor decisions in possession resulting in running down blind alleys away from his support.

He's poor in the air

He either has no bottle or poor technique at shooting as evidenced by him not taking a penalty in the final.

The bid is £400,000 apparently. The club must want rid, how many teams even league 2 would sell their club captain in his mid twenties, having played a major part of the previous season, for such a paltry sum?

Last year of his contract. if he's not signing a new one, it could be a case of £400k now, or nothing next July.

For me, Honeyman is a utility player. He will play wherever asked and give his best (usually a steady 6/10 with the odd 5 or 7 thrown in), doesn't quite have the skills/physical attributes to nail down a specific position but useful to have around the squad. It was a gamble to make him captain, didn't come off can't blame the lad for that. If the deal is good for the club then let him go, we can replace him with a specialist in 1 position rather than a jack of all trades.

100% I agree with your comments.

The derisory comments about a player who started with us as a 10yrs old, and hasnt left yet, beggars belief.

Yes he is a bang average player, who should never have been appointed captain, but some of the comments on here typifies some of the shite posters we have on here. Some of you are a disgrace and not fit to call yourself fans.

If you leave George, good luck and thank you for giving 100%.

Part of the worst team in our history, we need fresh blood and legs, he's been well paid for his efforts...

True, he makes errors, but then so have most over the last few years.

His running creates space for other play and gives defenders another runner to worry about. He’s also an outlet, always trying to be available and bring others into play, taking a man with him. Most of our other midfielders are less mobile and aren’t able to this. Just because he isn’t slaloming down the pitch doesn’t make him less effective.
He runs down blind allies man, he misplaced passes more than most, he failed many times to play the role he was picked for, he will never be a leader as long as I have a hole in my arse, weak as piss and we will not miss his headless chicken antics.

Nobody has said players don't make mistakes but to say he'll be missed is bollocks along with claiming people who see him as a poor player truly don't understand football. When Ross made substitutions last season the moans and comments about Honeyman staying on the pitch amongst the support were justified, he was poor and got more than enough opportunities to prove himself, he wasn't upto the task.

I agree with the shooting technique, he’s certainly no goalscorer. He is also poor in the air.

I think it’s a little harsh to slate him for his decision making and angles of play when these are reliant on the movement of his team mates. I thought in the Prem, with a better quality of player, his reactions, decision making and movement in the ball was more assured.

I also disagree regarding athleticism, he was one of most mobile midfielders last season, although i reckon he may have been carrying a knock in the last third of the season.

Carrying a knock in last third of season?

A knock certainly doesn’t last a third of the season mate.
