I was there

I was also there, right behind the goal.
It was absolute bedlam on the terraces when Brown put us 2-1 up, arms, legs and bodies all over the place.
I was on the pitch at the end of the game, along with thousands of other Sunderland supporters, thinking we'd been promoted, until a tannoy announcement told us Stoke had won at Notts County, and they'd been promoted.
Palace beat Burnley in a rearranged game, and they were also promoted.
We just missed out, but were promoted the following season.

I wasn’t there, but it’s one of the games/results etched in the part of me brain that stores Sunderland stuff.
And Kevin Arnott looked very lovely as he took that throw in :)
Siddall's save from McNeills header was brilliant.
From the corner, he set us away down the pitch, and we scored our 2nd goal which sparked some of the wildest celebrations I've ever been involved in, in 47 years of going to home and away games.

My memory is returning.......we got there dead early. We went into the town centre but it was dead. We drove back out to the outskirts and went into a white village inn looking place. Got settled in there. The landlord ordered us a mini bus to get us and four others to the game. We had a couple of pints in there after the game then we were off.
I remember seing their end empty when we surged across the pitch at the end.

I thought he would play for England, hair envy here :)
:lol::lol:
Still got me Kevin Arnott, Gary Rowell and Shaun Elliott badges that I pinned on to me scarf that was tied round me wrist.
Those were the days :lol:

Aye, me too.
I'm hoping to get to a couple of near-ish ones, in Yorkshire and Lancashire.

God I miss away games :)

Proper ones though. Pay on the gate (about 20p). Being able to stand without needing a nanny rail. Leave at midnight from Tennicks shop for London games straight from The Beehive and having a night in the town you're playing in or a stopover on the way back....some on here may remember the famous stopover in York :lol:. Only about half of our coach managed to avoid being locked up.
