New interest to buy donald shares

He hasnt been a disaster. He was the right person to stabalise the club but he is not the right person to lead it into its future.

This place is so manic. Last year at this time, anybody who dared remotely criticise any of the owners was instantly branded "a Mag".
This year if you say anything positive, you are either a happy clapper or Stuart or Charlie.

Of course the vast silent majority have little to say as they are neither pissed off nor elated with the owners, but the frightening thing is that some of the critical people now are the same ones who wouldn't have a word against SD back then.

I said from the beginning that not getting promoted last year would be a huge failure and I stand by that. But there were a significant number of people who said they would be happy with a top-half finish and promotion would be a bonus. We achieved that, but there is so much doom and gloom here.

Like many, I am also not convinced by the strength of the current team, but I can't believe how obsessed people are by our pre-season results - its a time for experimenting and training. We don't actually get league points for those matches.

At one point it was a straight choice between Ross and Chris Wilder, Ross was the cheaper option by far

How much was Wilder? Or did you make this up?

Good post but pre-season matches can be a chance for trying out new things, doing well and breeding confidence in the team and for the supporters. It would be good for all concerned to see signs of attacking and flair play in pre-season.

All we need to do as a club is get promoted without saddling ourselves with a load more debt.

We should have done it last season, we need to do it this. It does not matter who the biggest shareholder is, it matters that our gaffer gets our team winning the league.

Investment will then take care of itself.

The biggest question is on how much Jack ross has learned from his first season. If he has not then we are in the shit.

It might just be the case that many fans see a similarity with the way we were playing last season in some of these games.. Maybe?

In other words, nowts changed.

It's not like managers have a price tag on them but estimating their wages, past transfer activity etc it's not impossible

Chris Wilder had Oxford top of the conference, took Northampton from bottom of L2 to Champions in two seasons and did the same for Sheffield United in L1.

I'm nee expert but he would have commanded a higher wage than a young manager from the Scottish Championship.

Past transfer activity

Until recently Wilder has worked to a budget, but is known to profile players to the nth degree to see if they'd fit into a team. He'd cost SD more because he wouldn't just grab whoever's available and wouldn't be swayed on his targets. Maguire was good but there's no way Wilder would agree to Grigg so at least he'd have saved Stu £3m

I met a Sheff United fan through work around the time and he basically laughed in my face when I said we'd been linked. Apparently there was no talk whatsoever in Sheffield of him leaving and there was no way he'd leave his boyhood club to drop down a division. Presume Wilder and Donald/Methven know each other through Oxford so it was a case of putting 2 and 2 together.
