Random boring anomalies from Sunderland games..

Hit the wall at work so my mate sends me some train spotter random facts involving SAFC games.
1. 73 Cup final yellow ball.. why?
2. QPR home game 1979 when they ran out in our blue away strip
3.Leeds at home 1980 4-1 when all the printed numbers were peeling off the players shirts like a pub team kit!
Sad as fuck I know but anyone got anymore?....

1974/5 ish Leyton orient came out wearing sunderland away strip at roker (fa cup game i think)

1990 Wembley and you hardly touched the ball ;)

1990 you were promoted after losing at Wembley.

2019 I’m still bitter :)

Playing West Brom (mid 70s) we were awarded a penalty. Their keeper Osborne was crocked so swapped shirts with an outfield player who went in goal. The penalty was duly saved and at the next break in play the players swapped shirts back and Osborne continued in goal for the remainder of the game.

Conceeding a penalty to Brian Cloughs Middlesborough in 1958 and then blaggging the ref in to giving a goal kick even though the pen was scored but went through the corner of the net.

I remember in '77 when we beat them 6-1. We went 5-0 up and Osborne turned to face the Roker, put his finger to his head, and "shot" himself:lol:. They then got one back and he turned again and made as if to rub one out! He was a great character.

Don’t be bitter, we did score for you with one of our few touches;)

Norwich surely:confused:

Might not count but playing a reserve match at Roker Park with only the Main Stand side floodlights on.
There was an evening April kick off against Brighton in 83 when it was agreed on the morning of the match that despite only 3 floodlights in working order ( I think the Fulwell Clock Stand lights not on ) the match could go ahead ....

I recall a cup replay against Orient at Roker back in January 71. Sunderland were initially booed when they ran out as they were wearing all light blue. Orient had not travelled with their away strip and played in all red. And Sunderland lost 3 nil in front of only 18000

v Orient - I remember Martin Harvey running up to their left back and slotting him after the Orient player had fouled somebody.

Floodlights going out at SoL.

This, against Hull & the South stand signing "get the rave on"
