VAR - appeals

Why not use it in a similar vein to other sports whereby you get 3 chances a half to appeal a decision and if you get them wrong that's it you get no more appeals? Maybe three appeals a half is too many and a captain gets two chances to appeal and that's it.
They are only allowed to do it once the ball is dead and you can only make it the first time the ball goes dead after the event.
VAR is here to stay so might as well add a bit of excitement to it all

Would be better than the random nature of it now. Game goes on as is unless a team captain appeals and then the ref could check it. One per game for the howler.

Should be applied purely on offsides imo. Everything else is merely interpretation

I love the 3 challenges to the ref, why 3 why not 297? Our 1? Let’s just hope they start getting things right as no matter how many challenges a team has it will still come down to the var and ref being right, and as we have seen they have made errors left, right and centre even with the use of var

I’m watching the cricket World Cup final and see their VAR decisions are taken by the ‘man in the box’ and that person walks and talks their way through the decision over the tannoy to the crowd. I wonder if football could do likewise.

It's a far better system and much quicker; everyone knows what's going on and it barely slows the game down. VAR is a shambles in comparison.

More f***ing time wasting

Cricket is miles ahead of football for var. Football is a complete shambles.

Tbf & as I've posted elsewhere

Cricket is a much slower sport than footy

A minute or two here mean fuck all in cricket

In football is a life time

You have literally all day in cricket or least half a day

Aye but in cricket they go into detail on every part of the decision and confirm each section. In football the ref runs owa to a screen, watches a dodgy angle replayed at the wrong time then does whatever the fuck he feels like anyway.

Knew it would be a fuck up in footy from day one & ive been proved right

There totally spoiling the game we love if a ref gets a decision wrong tough that's part & parcel

Knew GLT would be a waste of money how many times has it been used since its invention a dozen

Tbf with glt at least its right when it does get used. VAR is as much as a lottery as just guessing a decision without it anyway.

3 challenges each and we'd see more decisions going to VAR which would slow the game down further. 1 challenge each and it removes fairness. What happens if in the first minute your striker goes over a crisp packet in the box. As far as he's concern someone has tripped him. The captain hasn't seen it so has to rely on his striker who is adamant. Replays show no penalty. That means for the rest of the game the opposition can do all the niggley little things that would normally get pulled up on VAR.

The system we have is actually best for football, it's just brand new. People saying that the 3rd umpire is far better in cricket, yes that true, but only because they've had it far longer.

& once again much slower sport than footy which is why it works so well
